how do you clean this fountain
Answer by ChewyNov 16, 2017
You would first need to unplug and disassemble the fountain by removing the motor and lifting the impeller.Pour soapy water inside the motor cavity and clean with a small round brush. Lastly, rinse and re-assemble the fountain.

We have your drinkwell pagoda fountain. Our cat is fascinated and drinking well. How long should we leave it on? is it ok to leave it on constantly? Or better to pull the plug at night? We love the product and thank you for your excellent service.
Answer by ChewyOct 26, 2017
It's safe to leave on constantly as long as the filters are regularly changed out and the fountain is replenished with water as needed.

Is the ceramic free of lead and bpa ?
Answer by ChewyJun 07, 2018
All of the PetSafe Drinkwell Pet Fountains are rated well below the current US standards for lead content in ceramics. The lead composition of this product is 0.1 milligram per liter. Also, the plastics are BPA free, non-porous, non-leaching.

How do I clean the stains on my Pagoda? I don’t want to scratch the ceramic yet am concerned about using CRL or some other caustic cleaner for the brownish scale that is disfiguring this beautiful watering fountain.
Answer by ChewyDec 08, 2018
CLR is great for cleaning pet bowls from food grime, and bacteria that regular soap doesn't clean off! Dilute equal parts warm water and CLR to clean ceramic, stainless steel or plastic bowls. Leave on for 2 minutes and use sponge or brush to agitate and rinse thoroughly with cold water.

Love it! My cats love it more!

I bought this fountain months ago. My cats quickly adjusted to it! But I still keep a back up water bowl. My only complaint is limescale buildup! Its really awful. Hard water here! So…. I soak the ceramic pieces in vinegar and water. Overnight and remove the limescale with an old toothbrush. I still have limescale but this vinegar soak helps keep it down. Its not noisy for me as I keep it in the basement where the cats live. Dogs are upstairs.

Great fountain, Absolutely Awful Filters

The fountain portion of this product is excellent. My Maine Coon loves to drink out of the water fountain. Unfortunately the carbon and foam filters are absolutely awful. As other reviewers mention, the carbon filters break open after only a few days of use and charcoal is everywhere rendering the fountain useless. Consequently the time spent cleaning the water fountain properly is a serious commitment. The pictures included show what regularly happens to my fountain after only 1 week, sometimes even after a few days. Unfortunately customer service does not have any recommendations, other than to use the fountain without any filters. Previously these filters were quite well constructed and would never break open. Within the last couple years the quality has completely deteriorated. I want to continue using this water fountain for my cat, but I have finally had enough. Other buyers beware!

Pros and Cons

I purchased the Pagoda because it is ceramic (and looks nice) and my cat gets chin acne from plastic. My cat drinks from it all the time. She is nearly deaf at 17.5 years old, so the loud noise of babbling water doesn’t bother her but it does bother me. I am trying to adapt and making progress. What concerns me the most is that the filter and other components get slimy so quickly, even though I only use filtered water in the fountain. At first it was very difficult to assemble but with a little practice it is pretty easy. All in all, I’ll probably keep it and just keep an eagle eye on the cleanliness of the fountain and filter.

Works well, purchased a second

I've had the Drinkwell Seascape for about a year and recently purchased the Pagoda. I have 2 dogs with Cushing's who drink quite a bit. I use them on our covered porches so they have constant access to water when we are outside. Both work well and are easy to clean. I put them in the dishwasher once a week and clean the pump by hand. I expected the Pagoda to be very noisy based on reviews, but I find it to be fairly quiet. It is more noisy than the Seascape, but not unpleasant. It sounds like running water. My only complaint is they don't run well with the charcoal filters so I leave them out. I have 3 cocker spaniels and a cat using them and they work well for all of them. I have one dog who can be a bit scared and she uses them with no problem. Overall, I'm very pleased.

Patience for the win!

I ordered the Pagoda Fountain for my three-year-old cat. The assembly instructions were clear, and the fountain was easy to assemble. I placed the fountain next to my cat's water bowl, to make sure she understood that this was her water fountain. At first, she was curious, observing the moving water, but no matter how many times we encouraged her to drink from the Pagoda, she was wary and continued drinking from her trusty water bowl. As she is quite timid, I understood that she needed time to adjust. I patiently waited for her to let me know when she was ready to drink from the new fountain. Her water bowl remained at its regular location, as a backup, while I continued to encourage her to try the Pagoda. A week later, it was time to clean the fountain. At this point she had not yet taken a drink from it. But, to my delight, when I unplugged the unit and lifted the tower, she decided to take a good long drink from the large bowl. After I cleaned and reassembled the fountain, I returned it to its location and plugged it back in. I am happy to report that moments later she approached the fountain and took a drink. I have retired the old drinking bowl, as she no longer needs it. She is now drinking from her new Pagoda Fountain with confidence.

It works, but

My cat is water obsessed and he knocks over the top. I got ceramic because he kept breaking the plastic one I had before. But this heavy ceramic was still not enough. So, got to find a new one... NOT RECOMMENDED FOR WATER OBSESSED CATS

Personally I love it but it's too loud for my kitties!

I got the white and absolutely love the way this fountain looks and sounds. It stays very clean. I knew it was a risk to buy because some cats do not like the loud sound of falling water. I did add a foam replacement filter on the top (highly recommend as a sound buffer) at the time to lessen the sound but my cats still did not go near it. Oddly enough, they prefer drinking from the stainless steel 360 degree fountain or automatic waterers with stainless steel bases. In all, this fountain is beautiful and I have it set up on my counter in my kitchen so I can listen to it. It basically ended up being a gift from me to me.

Beyond annoying

Everything about this is annoying & frustrating. Assembly - felt like I needed to take a class. Needs to be maintained/serviced way too often, which I've been doing, yet there's often black charcoal debris around the bottom. To clean, it must be disassembled (our cat sitter said they'd rather not do it, so now we'll need a new sitter). Way too noisy; we can hear it all over the house & the cats are not drinking as much. Needs to have a volume control for flow. For us, an absolute failure.

Stopped working and limescale

After 2 years this has stopped working entirely, is a pain to clean, and the limescale is impossible to avoid even with regular cleaning so it’s not as nice to look at. Cats liked it for awhile but no way to get a refund now that it’s broken and for $90, it was a waste of money.
