Splashing can be heard throughout my house
The water from the tower flows out away from the tower and splashes loudly into the lower bowl, I could hear this in every room in my house. I have another fountain in my kitchen which is practically inaudible even standing right beside it. An adjustable flow pump would probably alleviate this problem. My cat found the top bowl too much of a reach and the lower bowls are so narrow that she had to fold her ears back to avoid touching the tower when trying to drink. Neither of us liked it which is a shame because it does look nice. Customer Service was very prompt and accepted return.
The Astrophysikitties Love It!
Leonard Degrasse TYSON and Brian Carl SAGAN, the astrophysikitties, are very fussy about their water since we moved. I had a reverse osmosis system in the house where I adopted them, and they had a dispenser for their water. We had to move to the Vegas area, which has incredibly hard water (19gpg), and they hated it. Within the first few months, The Boyz got UTIs because, I think, they weren't hydrating enough, plus the water is mineral heavy. I bought a Drinkwell 360 that worked really well, but despite my diligent cleaning there was a lot of scale and build up on the plastic. I bought a house with soft water, and sadly bought off-brand filters, and the fountain got worse. I decided a good ceramic fountain would help with the cleaning given the water quality issues, but The Boyz like falling water. I splurged on the Pagoda to see what might happen (they are my furbabies, after all). They didn't like it at first for a concerning 3 days or so, but after a week they love lapping from the bubbler, and slurping from the falls. People have commented on the noise, but it is no louder than the 360 after cleaning and new filters. I find the sound soothing, but I don't even notice it with the TV on as I sit barely 6 feet away. It doesn't hold as much water as the 360, and evaporates quickly since it's so dry here, but so far I haven't noticed any build-up of lime and scale like I did before. Cleaning is a bit of a chore, with many small parts, but I've always devoted as much time and attention to my four-legged family as I would the two-legged variety. It's a labor of love. It's also an excellent water source for them, and it's really stylish to boot with available colors to fit any decor..
Great Water Fountain For The Kitties
Love that it’s made of ceramic. Don’t have to worry about smell or bacteria buildup. Easy to wash. Just pop it in the dishwasher on the top rack and it’s clean. Don’t recommend putting the plastic parts in the dishwasher though. Otherwise it’ll bend and it won’t fit into each other or the motor anymore. Wish it could hold more water but since it’s ceramic that’ll make it heavier to carry. Love this fountain and will recommend. 10/10.
So Good I Bought Two!
In 2016, my cat was diagnosed with early stage kidney disease and it was recommended to provide a fountain for her to encourage hydration. I've bought three different plastic fountains since then. I was very happy with the two Catit Brand fountains I had purchased. However I saw several experts state that ceramic or stainless steel fountains were better for water quality and pet health. Since Chewy's always sends me Birthday coupons for my Fur Babies, I first invested in the more expensive Ceramic Fountain in May 2021 and my pets LOVE it! I just bought the Pagoda style fountain in April 2022 and it is even better than the other model I bought and uses the same filters. My cats prefer the ceramic fountains versus the plastic one. These are easily cleaned in the dishwasher and a quick rinse in the sink will remove any debris or film that develops in the bowl. The only drawback is that ceramic is ultimately more breakable if dropped than plastic.
I have four cats, so finding a fountain big enough that I don’t have to fill all the time has been a struggle - and the ones I have found with a large capacity stop working after a couple weeks. I have had this fountain for around 2 months now, and it works great! My cats love it, I only have to refill it about every 4-5 days, and the water feature is as strong as it was when I opened the box! I would HIGHLY recommend this fountain. My only qualm with it is that sometimes the sound of the water from the streams can be pretty loud, but personally I enjoy the sounds. If you are a very light sleeper, keep this fountain in a different room :) I would also advise ordering a large pack of the filters to keep it working at its best for the longest. Overall, great purchase, and I am very pleased, as are my fur babies! They drink almost twice as much water as they used to after getting this fountain!
Attractive But Not Functional
Great design but the maintenance instructions are overwhelming. It requires complete disassembly every week and assembly is not that easy to begin with. Furthermore it requires you to take apart the motor each time you clean it. I'd rather spend the time playing with my cat and I'm sure he would as well.
WE LOVE THIS!
It's compact, looks more decorative than other fountains, easy to clean, and we find the 'trickling waterfall' a peaceful backdrop to our daily living. The cats went straight to it when we put it down, which is unusual. They seem to prefer drinking from the top reservoir versus the actual flow. In our house this is a good thing, since we have little boy cats who like to 'chase' and try to 'catch' flowing water!
This fountain is fun
My two cats love this fountain. I have to refill it twice daily. My male cat has kidney disease and he has picked up on his water consumption. Louder than an inside fountain in a home but not bad.
This fountain looks nice, and is relatively easy to maintain. Our cat likes to paw at the sides and splash a bit, but being the heavy ceramic it doesn’t tip or get damaged by her claws. It is a bit noisy, but we are getting used to it.
Our dogs are quite satisfied
We have had a plastic fountain for years. The pump finally gave out and we could. not find a replacement. Besides I have been wanting to get away from plastics. Ceramic seemed to be a good way to go and this waS the cheapest I could find that I liked..I also like the fact that this one has a foam filter that covers the pump. My other pump. Was always getting plugged with dog hair. We have 3 rescued dogs ourself. My daughter brings 2 very large rescued greyhounds.and a rescued Australian cattle dog. Then I often dog sit my son’s rescued lab. When we have all the dogs here we will probably have to fill at least 2 to 3 times a day, but refilling is very easy compared to my old plastic one. With just our 3 very small (all under 10 pounds) dogs it lasts 2-3 days.
