Description

Having a free-falling fountain instead of a stagnant bowl water is the best way to encourage cats and dogs with a low thirst drive to get the amount of hydration they need to support their kidneys and urinary tracts. The Drinkwell Platinum Pet Fountain gives them that with an extra bit of style. This high-quality fountain hold over one gallon of water and constantly filters and aerates it. The free-falling stream keeps water fresh, encouraging pets to drink more and stay hydrated. Replaceable carbon filters remove all of the bad odor and taste pets find in tap water. Perfect for multi-pet homes!

Key Benefits

  • 168 oz (1.3 gal) capacity reservoir, ideal for multiple cats and dogs under 60 pounds
  • Patented free-falling water stream with adjustable flow entices pets to drink more
  • Spout and receiving ramp reduce splash and noise
  • Pre-filter catches large particles before they reach the motor
  • Low voltage, 12V system complete with cord tuck and inline disconnect for easy plug removal

†Capacity is calculated by total volume. When using container, choose a capacity greater than what you need to prevent overfilling and spills.

I was very skeptical because I tried a fountain a few years ago that was simply waaay too noisy. This unit is so quiet! It's far better than I expected. My only suggested change they should make is to use the reservoir cap mechanism that humidifiers use because when I remove the reservoir some water always spills out. When I remove the reservoir from a humidifier, perhaps a few drops drip out. I hope they make that change, but in the meantime I'll have a rag on hand. This week was my first thorough cleaning (including the pump) and I was very please with how easy it was.

  • Soooo hard to clean, giving ours to charity.

We bought 2 of these for our animals, 2 cats and a dog about a year ago. They took to them right away and their water intake increased two fold. They also work well and the filters are affordable so if they were easier to clean, they’d be perfect. However, cleaning it is a completely different story and makes it entirely NOT worth it. Not only is it an encumbersome chore, but I’ve literallyy cut myself a few times while trying reach one of those several hard to reach spots; access to the inside of the clear resevoir is impossible because the hole is too small. What good is cleaning it if you can’t get to where the water is held and it remains slimmy? In my opinion, it very expensive for being so poorly designed and there are much better options available. … more

  • Great Water Fountain

    By on

This is the best water fountain for my cats! They preferred to drink from the sink faucet instead of their water bowl. I had to take one of our cats to the vet for not drinking enough water and this fountain fixed that problem. I did some reading up on cats and water and cats prefer moving water to drink from. Plus, this fountain is easy to clean if you buy the brush set for the Drinkwell products. Don't forget to buy extra charcoal filters too. The price for all 3 products at Chewy's is the best I could find. Plus shipping was free and fast!

  • Dinkwell Platinum Pet Fountain

I did not like this pet fountain at all! It was much too noisy and my cats wouldn't even go near it and I don't think it was because they didn't like the water flowing because they drink out of a table top fountain I already have, I just think it scared them because of the noise it made and I even put the darn thing on a padded mat. Sorry but I am giving it away as I don't feel like carting it off to be returned! Would I recommend it - only if you don't mind the noise!

  • Great product

I really like this water fountain. It has a reservoir which is really nice for when I work. ( sometimes 12 hours). I usually only have to fill it once a day but plan on adding more pets so I might buy another. I have 1 small and 1 large cat and a Shetland sheepdog. The 1.3 gallon reservoir is almost perfect for their daily use and can be filled 2x. Plus the filter is easily replaced.

  • Best thing ever for my blind kitty!

    By on

I have four indoor cats and bought this in hopes they would all drink more water with fresh running water always available. While the three sighted cats are still eyeing it, the little blind senior girl found it after a few days and loves it. She locates it by the sound and is there drinking several times a day & night. Her other water dish was always a mess because she fished and pawed at the water. That has stopped because she can always find fresh running water. Even if the other cats never take to it, I’m really glad I bought this!

  • A great improvement

    By on

I love this fountain. I've owned two of the original model over the years, and my cats loved them. This upgraded model is definitely much better: far quieter, fewer nooks and crannies to trap dirt, and a more accessible pre-filter. The only thing that initially disconcerted the cats was that air bubbles in the rigid reservoir make a knocking sound whenever it releases water, which sounds just like someone knocking at our basement door!

  • pain to clean but worth it

i clean mine every sun and wed ... for 5 chihuahuas, using the cleaning kit makes the chore a lot less of a hassle. Takes me about 30 min to clean. 3 of my 5 babies seem to like this for drinking out of, my lil ones are worth it. runs good, i wanted a fountain to relax with in the house, so why not. kills two birds with one stone. I use it inside and sun doesnt hit it, so it does not get slimy at all. I've had it over a month now, so far so good. Oh and I put ice inside to chill the water :)

  • Every Cat Should Have One

    By on

This is a great product, a replacement for one I have had for years. It is particularly good for my cat with IBD as it encourages him to drink a lot more than he otherwise might. He also seems to enjoy the process. My younger cat has not yet gotten the hang of it, but I'm sure he will catch.

  • Just what we wanted

Our spoiled princess cat will only drink water out of a sink faucet and refuses to drink from a bowl. We got tired of constantly turning on the sink for her so we bought this. She started drinking from it right away and doesn't go near the sink anymore! Problem solved!
