Keep the birds fed and the squirrels out with the Droll Yankees Sunflower Domed Cage Wild Bird Feeder. This feeder is protected by a cage with openings that are just big enough for small song birds to fly in and out safely to get to the grub, while keeping larger birds and squirrels out. The seed is kept in a UV-resistant polycarbonate tube that can stand up to heavy duty outdoor use, and has a clear polycarbonate dome to provide shelter from the elements. Plus, it’s simple to remove the feeder and the cage bottom opens to let the hulls fall out for easy cleaning.

I like squirrels but not when they consume all of the sunflower seeds meant for my bird friends. I am absolutely thrilled with the Droll Yankees Sunflower Domed Cage. Worth every cent. Bird watching joy— priceless.
This a perfect feeder to keep large birds out, but getting back together after cleaning in near to impossible unless you have 4 hands, plus too many plastic parts. Spend a little more and get a better quality feeder.
I like it and the birds are getting used to it....The only thing I would change - I would have a tray at bottom to catch seeds that get thrown out or dropped...I made myself a tray and it works for what I want....
I have purchased ALOT of feeders through the years and this is the BEST one I have found for small birds ! keeps away the larger birds and squirrels ! the chickadees and finches instantly started using it ! and the squirrels and grackles don't get to empty the feeder ! but they can still eat the seeds that fall to the ground ! works out for everybody !
This bird feeder works well keeping Stellar birds out. However, when we hung the feeder from a tree limb, a smart squirrel learned how to get in from the curved bottom where vertical meets horizontal. Plus a bear could reach it as well. We decided to hang the feeder on the house facia by our kitchen window. Problem solved.
I've had this feeder up for two weeks and so far no squirrels have damaged it. However, juvenile squirrels can fit through the bars and have been sitting inside and getting their fill. Overall, I like this design, but would recommend taking the feeder down when young squirrels are out, both to prevent them from getting stuck inside and save seed.
I had another caged feeder but the tube was 3" from cage and this one is 4" from cage. 3" away and the Blue Jays would empty it in no time. So I bought this one. Previously I had birds all over the place..now almost nothing. I am going to try to alter it..put a tray on bottom and maybe a tray underneath..too close to cage for Jays to get at. See if that draws them back.
Happy to finally find a feeder that prevents those pesky blackbirds and grackles from devouring all the seed! I layered bottom half w black sun flower seeds and top w mealworms for the blue birds! So far so good. I’ve seen chickadees, wrens, and bluebirds enjoying a meal undisturbed. I have a covered tray for the bigger birds - jays, cardinals, etc...w peanuts and some seed so everyone gets something!
It’s fun watching them try! But they can’t reach any of the feed ports. They climb all over it but can’t get to the seed! I will buy another one soon. Great quality feeder... droll yankee is the best brand and its pieces are interchangeable.
It’s a beautiful feeder but I’ve had it out for almost 1 month and the birds haven’t gone in it. It’s a replacement for another feeder. I’ve even tried tying suet to the side and have put peanut butter near the feeding ports. That’s the reason for the low rating. ’Any suggestions?
