Questions & Answers

4 Customer Questions

I live in the North East and am concerned during the winter that the window suction cup feeder would not stay on the the window during frigid weather.
Answer by ChewyJan 04, 2018
The durable suction cups will keep your feeder securely in place. During colder seasons, we recommend cleaning the suction cups with warm water and sticking it to the desired area, while still wet and press firmly. This will remove dirt and debris from the suction cup and warm it up, to make it more pliable.

Is this squirrel proof
Answer by ChewyJun 23, 2021
This feeder is not squirrel proof due to its open design.

How do we attach the bar with the suction cups to feeder?
Answer by ChewyMay 15, 2021
Place the threaded end of the brass rod into the metal insert which is located in the center of the dome and turn the dome clockwise until the dome is secure. Insert the smooth end of the brass rod halfway into the plastic column and position the dome over the dish. Tighten the thumbscrew by turning it clockwise. The dome can be adjusted by moving the brass rod up or down inside the plastic column to the desired height.

Are the feeding trays on any of the Droll Yankee window feeders solid, without holes? Could I put water in it for my hummers? The other birds have taken over their birdbath.
Answer by ChewyMar 19, 2020
These feeders are not designed to be used for water and feature drainage holes to eliminate water from the dish.

Not good design

The suction cups have screws that are trying to screw into rubber so that was a fail. The screw to hold the adjustable pole for the lid is metal trying to screw into plastic that apparently has no tread- also a fail. I’ll be returning this. Definitely not worth the $30+ I paid for it.

Disappointed

It was supposed to be good in cold weather but one attempt by a hairy woodpecker and it all crashed down. I cleaned window, warmed and cleaned suction and it just won't stick.

poorly designed

The screw to secure the pole to the tray is defective. It does not tighten. I’ve had to glue and tape the pole into the slot. Two of the suction cups only support the dome, which is only connected to the tray via said defective pole. The bottom suction cup provides very little support and the tray essentially has to balance on the one suction cup alone. Hi

Happy Birds

Having tried a few other feeders with frustration due to squirrel invasion or them knocking the feeder off the window, I am finally happy with the Droll Yankee. I’ve put it high enough that the squirrels can’t jump on it. It’s great!

Great feeder

This feeder is easy to put together and maintain and brings all kinds of birds to the window, including blue jays, cardinals and woodpeckers. I recommend using waste free high quality bird food only with this type of feeder.

Great window feeder - easy installation and restocking with seed

I have used these Droll Yankees window feeders for years. I now have two installed on our kitchen windows. The are easy to installs during restock with seed, very durable and provide an excellent view for watching the birds feed.

Grandma’s girl

My 7-year old granddaughter loves her new bird feeder. In less than 2weeks the birds arrived at her bedroom window! Glad I looked at your website

Great window feeder

Great little feeder for up close observation. Holds tight to window, keeps seed dry. Everything from little goldfinches to less desirable blue jays can fit under the roof, however it does favor smaller song birds.

Best window feeder I've found

I live in New England and have used it all year long for over 3 years. I can sit 2 feet from my window and watch birds feeding. The suction cups are strong and stable making it easy to remove the feeder for cleaning and refilling. Now I'm giving them to my friends.

Poor design doesn't support weight

There's only one suction cup on bottom where most of the weight is contained, and the suction cups don't hold well enough. It fell multiple times, spilling all the food all over our deck, which is stuck down in the cracks now; so I decided to put it on the ground (where we cannot see it). Very dissappointed.
