What is the secret to getting these bags open? I have an awful time with that, otherwise they would be okay.
Answer by ChewyJul 12, 2017
The top of the bag should separate easily to open.

Are these bags compostable?
Answer by ChewyJul 26, 2021
The manufacturer has stated the following about this product – “Our dark green bags contain a Totally Degradable Plastic Additive (made by EPI) which fall within the definition of oxo-biodegradable. Essentially, the additive allows the bags to breakdown at an accelerated rate when exposed to elements such as heat, oxygen, moisture and agitation- like conditions found in anaerobic landfills! These bags will break down about 60% within the first 24 months and then whatever is left is then converted into small amounts of water, carbon dioxide and biomass with the help of tiny microorganisms found in landfill environments.”

are they made in the US
Answer by ChewySep 29, 2020
Earth Rated's present manufacturing process is based in China. Their factory abides by strict quality control guidelines and they have a great team of people that oversee every part of their production and ensure a high level of quality control.

Do these bags come in a larger size? I walk two, 75 lb dogs. Some trips require more than one bag.
Answer by ChewyDec 06, 2017
At this time the 9 x 13 inch Earth Rated PoopBags are the biggest we carry.

Bought by mistake, immense regret

I grabbed a box of these while in a hurry and didn't realize it was the scented kind. The smell is truly awful, and only gets worse when you add poop. Because the bag doesn't mask the odor at all, you end up with this horrible combination of old lady perfume and dog poop. The scent of the bag will stay on your hands for awhile, so you also end up carrying around this smell that you associate with the smell of poop. The bags themselves are sturdy, have never ripped and are easy to open (for poop bags, which to be fair is a low bar). They also tear away pretty easily compared to others I've used. Also that sticker that's always to pain to get off is perforated, so it's easy to start a new roll. Can't let myself waste them and throw them away, so I've just been powering through til I need refills and washing my hands a lot. The brand is good, but seriously—go with the unscented ones.

The only poop bags you’ll ever need!

I use these bags everyday with my service dog, and they’re extremely durable and I appreciate that they’re also scented. I would’ve liked it if they had a bit of a stronger scent, but that’s okay. The scent isn’t overpowering nor does it give you a headache, which I appreciate.

Criminally misleading

Just plastic. Nothing environmentally positive about these. Yup the company also offers compostable bags, but their website and chewy’s both promote the plastic ones first. All under the bogus “earth rated” label. Shamefully tricking people into thinking they’re making a good choice.

Eco-friendly Poop Bags

As a dog sitter I go through a lot of poop bags and so I prefer to only use eco-friendly bags. I have found that the Earth Rated Dog Poop bags are one of the best for durability and I love the lavender scented ones, it helps the trash can smell better. I definitely recommend and will purchase again.

Great scent and thickness

Love these. I've bought other brands that have been really thin and it can be a little sketchy picking up the poo. I like the lavender scent, the thickness and the fact that they're biodegradable.

Made of plastic!

If you use this to pick up poop and throw it away, it may not decompose during your lifetime or your children's lifetimes. Used poop bags are rarely recycled, so this is greenwashing!

Good Bags - Not compostable but do break down faster

These bags are NOT compostable fyi. But they contain an additive which makes them break down faster in the landfill. However, dog poop is bad for the environment, so now I am wondering if the bags breaking down in the landfill is actually a good thing? I've been paying the much higher price for these bags because I thought they were more sustainable, but I am not actually sure. They are great bags, no leaking, etc. I used them when scooping out my cat's litter box. But I may just buy the regular plastic cheap bags next time as now that I am thinking about it, I am not sure these bags actually do any good if they are just breaking down in the landfill and allowing pet waste to get into the stormwater runoff.

Excellent choice!

I have tried environmentally friendly poop bags before, and they weren’t worth poop. These are thicker, stronger, and let me clean the mess without falling apart or getting mess on me!

Best I’ve found yet

After purchasing another brand that smelled horrible of chemical smell and ripped so easily. I’ve gone back to this bag. I have a doggie septic tank I installed (easily) in my back yard. I empty the bags in the tank and hose out the bag, slip it over the picket fence and reuse a couple more times (after the 3rd use the bag shows signs of deteriorating) I may seem over the top, the thought of tens of thousands of these things in the landfill is frightening.

Keeping up with the headlines

If you're aware of the danger of plastic to our environment, you will use these poop bags to clean after your dog. They smell wonderful and have the perfect size.
