My dog(and cat!) loves this food!
By Diana on Mar 23, 2021
I thought I would try this for my dog who has multiple food allergies and he was getting tired of his previous food. From the minute I opened the bag, I could hardly keep his head out of the bag while getting his food out! This included our cat who was extremely interested in it too! A piece of the food fell on the floor and she ate it up in a flash! Now I don't feed this to her, but she would gladly eat it if I did! It's now been a month since my dog started on this food and he still loves it(and so does kitty who tries to sneak it) and does very well on it. I am so glad they changed their recipe and took the peas out, Otherwise I wouldn't have considered it. I might try the Wild boar I thought I would try this for my dog who has multiple food allergies and he was getting tired of his previous food. changing to new food
By Kelly on Nov 5, 2020
I am happy with this product. Kelly was on a prescription diet since she was a young puppy due to some medical issues. she no longer needs that special diet. she is doing great on this new food but still needs to be on the duck protein.. she made an easy transition without any issues.

Not for picky eaters
By Codysmom on Sep 11, 2020
My dog (6 yo Golden Retriever) is really picky. I have been trying foods off and on to get one he'll eat. He left this one in his bowl for 4 days, and even then only took a nibble. He would whine and ask for other food rather than eating this. I am going to get some fish oil and other things he likes to mix with this food so we can finish off the bag. But if your dog is super picky, this probably isn't the food for them. We had some better luck with the Victor brand, but still not a winner.

Incorrect description and nutritional information
By Jessie on Jul 12, 2020
I was looking for a great food for my five-month-old puppy (all life stages) that was pea-free, chicken-free, and had no fillers, e.g. minimal carbs. I even went to the Earthborn Holistic website and their description stated no peas, just like Chewy. Verbatim, per Chewy, "100% free from grains, gluten, PEAS, legumes, lentils, potato, chicken, egg, colors, fillers, by-products, artificial preservatives, and GMO ingredients." Then why does the bag of food have peas listed as the third ingredient?! I will say I am VERY pleased the first ingredient is duck and the second ingredient is pumpkin. I can handle the peas this one and only time, but I will be switching to another brand where the real information I was looking for a great food for my five-month-old puppy (all life stages) that was pea-free, chicken-free, and had no fillers, e.g. minimal carbs. Maybe I have an old batch because, again, Earthborn Holistic does not have peas listed on their website for this exact blend. Please update the description and the nutritional information with the correct information. … more

For Limited Ingredients, This Caused More Itching
By foodcriticindeed on Jul 19, 2020
1: Purchased this because of the limited ingredients. However, my furry pal is back to losing hair again big time, licking paws, rubbing on bed and couch and itching/scratching more. He has lots of food allergies: Pork, Lamb, Soybean, Rice, Oat, Kelp, and Sweet Potato. So, am not sure if it's the use of TAPIOCA or not since it is from the potato family. And, after researching tapioca, it doesn't belong in dog foods and just wait to see the side effects to tapioca...including dental problems as tapioca is second only to sugar cane. Could be the pumpkin but he's had pumpkin before. 2: Two deliveries, both had peas in this dog food and am trying to get away from peas. Chewy did a good job about replacing the order, so it is not Chewy's fault by any means and they ended up giving my money back. So, this dog food company has not updated it's new formula and misleading customers thinking this formula has no peas. … more

Old v New formulation
By Tina on Jul 22, 2020
I placed an order for 2 bags on July 2, 2020. At that time, Chewy's site ONLY listed the ingredients for the "new" recipe. I received 2 bags, with a rapidly approaching expiration date Aug 7, 2020. And when I looked at the ingredients list, did NOT match the listed ingredients. Today July 22, 2020, I'm looking at the site and it now shows old recipe that includes peas in the ingredients. I'm getting one bag shipped out to me, but if it is still the old recipe with peas, I will ask for a refund. I don't put all the responsibility on Chewy, but I wish they had previously disclosed BOTH old/ new recipes and I do feel like the manufacturer needs to do MORE for consumers so that they can better control I placed an order for 2 bags on July 2, 2020. Good limited calorie dog food
By 3bigdogs on Jul 21, 2020
The calories per cup (335 kcal/cup) are among the lowest of any kibble. It digests well (pumpkin is good for firming loose stools or loosening too firm ones), everyone likes it, and has a decent amount of fiber (6.5%) so makes them feel full. Way better weight loss choice for us than the unappealing prescription weight loss foods. If you're worried about grain free food, I rotate through several different brands and give them wheat dog biscuits as treat, but this is a staple, esp. when they need to lose weight but you don't want them to feel hungry or miserable with the prescription diet.

Good quality food
By MiniRose3000 on Jul 24, 2020
Food is high quality. Chewy got it to me very quickly. Not totally enamored with the newer bag closure (a Velcro-like closure). Easy to not secure it properly—just need to double check.
