    Fine but the weirdest smell

By SalemandJane on Jun 11, 2021

The litter smells rotten. I’ve used many litters before and my cat in general doesn’t have stinky bms or urine, but the litter itself is foul smelling. I have to cover my nose when I sift the litter and nothing really helps. I’m excited to finish this litter and switch to something else. I almost wonder if the litter sits too long does it go rotten compared to the sweet smell others are talking about.

    The purrfect kitty litter?

By kittylitter on Mar 8, 2021

I really liked the fact that it is a natural litter,, the dust was very minimal and it was lightweight, the clumps were reasonably tight.... But.. the litter itself has a really weird sour smell. It's somewhat gag worthy. It's a very strong smell and it takes over the room very quickly. I added some crystal litterand mixed it in and that seemed to neutralize the strange odor that this litter has. Hopefully they will find a way to get rid of the smell.

    Hypoallergenic litter

By evelyn on May 24, 2021

It smells like light brown sugar. The best thing is there's NO dust lol Me and my cat doesn't have allergy reaction anymore.

Awful waste of money and time

By Suzy on Apr 25, 2021

Quite possibly one of the worst litters I’ve ever used it turned to mucky paste it became concrete on the bottom of the box. I will go back to the worlds best litter because this was unbearable.

    Lightweight but stinky

    By Bobcat2 on May 17, 2021

I like the consistency of this litter and that its sustainable; however, it does not cover up the smell whatsoever. Switching back to old brand.

    Not so good

By Melisa on Feb 23, 2021

Sadly it's not what I was hoping for. The clumps stick to the bottom / sides like almost as it were cement! I don't like the smell of it either. I was trying to find other options but I'll continue with Sustainably yours and Worlds Best Cat litter. I have litter robots and they work great with this two.

    Smells like a barn

    By Ralphscats on Sep 1, 2020 top1000Contributor

This is strange litter. It’s very lightweight, which is awesome, and seems to clump well. The problem that I have with it is the smell. It smells like a barn. I was hoping that the scent would fade, but I don’t think it has as I have to refresh the litterbox every so often. So far I haven’t gotten bugs like I have with the grass litter. Most of my cats except one seem to have used the litter. The one preferred the corner instead of the Litterbox. He is very sensitive and doesn’t take to litter changes well and has done this in the past when I’ve tried other litters. I really want to like this litter because it does meet some of my requirements for a litter, but I’m just not sure if I can get This is strange litter. Sticks like glue, high tracking.

By Jess on Aug 22, 2020

I just bought this cat litter and I hate it. I like that it clumps well and it’s non-toxic. However it sticks to the pan like glue and it tracks through the whole house. I know all litters track but this one tracks a lot more than other litters, I am constantly vacuuming and when it sticks I have to clean the sides of the box with Simple Green, scrape it with my scooper and I sometimes have to use soap to get it off my scooper. I can’t wait to get rid of this sticky tracky sugar cane litter and switch back to Naturally Fresh walnut cat litter. The clumps are more fragile with the walnut based litter but they are removable, the litter doesn’t stick to the box and the tracking is not as bad. Don I just bought this cat litter and I hate it. Good stuff

By Rachel on Jul 1, 2020

My cat took to this litter right away. It smells fine - like grass, absorbs odor well, and is very long lasting. First tip: scoop everyday, otherwise it gets stuck to the bottom of the litterbox. Second tip: have a vacuum nearby. The litter is lightweight and quite a bit of it seems to get flung out of the box. All-in-all though, very happy with this product.

Not as good as grass litter

    By lbkinflorida on Jun 12, 2020 top250Contributor

We have 20+ cats at our sanctuary. We're always looking for a more eco-friendly litter so this was a must try. I poured it into a box on our courtyard and found it to be pretty dusty. It also has a strong "barn" type odor - certainly not something I would use inside the home. Further, it's very dark and if one of our kitties had a UTI or bleeding issue, you'd never see it in this litter. The clumping is okay but not as good as clay or grass litter. Just like grass litters, it's very light so expect a lot of clean-up. On the plus side, it does last long and one bag goes a long way when it comes to filling a box. That's really the only positive thing I can offer. I wouldn't buy it twice.
