When the Himalayan chew gets too small can you put it in the microwave and make it get larger like a cookie
Answer by ChewyJul 14, 2018
The ends of these Himalayan chews can be microwaved to enlarge it's size. This is done to eliminate the chances of choking.

Should these be taken away once the dog has chewed them down to a small size? My concern is him choking on a small piece.
Answer by ChewyJul 09, 2018
Always monitor pet with chews. When item becomes too small for your pet to safely chew, put piece in microwave for 90 seconds. Allow to cool before giving to your pet.

Approximately how many chews are in a bag and what is the average size of a chew?
Answer by ChewyJun 13, 2018
Each 1 pound bag contains 3 or 4 large, thick pieces measuring 6-8 inches in length and 1-2 inches in width.

How long does a typical chew last in terms of durability? Is this a one session chew?
Answer by ChewyJul 13, 2018
The length of time the treats will last will vary from pet to pet. For some it may last longer than others.

Small Dog Warning

I purchased these because yak cheese is the only type of chew that would last with my yorkshire terrier. He is a hard core chewer. I almost had a heart attack when a piece splintered off, and got stuck in my dog's throat. Luckily we were able to help him cough it up at home. I absolutely adore my fur baby, and this less expensive yak cheese is not worth his health or life. I would highly recommend staying AWAY from this brand. They have weird cracks in them, and break off in chunks. It's a choking hazard, especially for smaller dog with smaller airways.

poodle loves them

I purchased a bag of these for my moms cavapoo and my standard poodle. They both went crazy for them. I’ve also noticed a difference in the tartar buildup on my poodles teeth. It really seems to help. Will definitely buy again.

Dog loves them

Best treat to last a while for my dog. They are kind of like her secuity blanket. She will grab pne and just keep herself busy. But i am starting to think she eats them quicker now, because she loves when i microwave them when they get to small and she gets the puffs. Anytime i put something in the microwave now..she thinks its a piece of cheese stick

Lasting Chew

These chews stand up to our siberian husky's very able bite. And, because it is one of the few chews to last, she also enjoys hiding them and recovering them later on. We enjoy the saga that unfolds...

my dog used to love these

i just purchased for the second time as this was a good longer lasting treat for my dog. she would get very excited for them and would finish them in usually under an hour. i just repurchased and the texture is VERY different as it is more brittle, cracks instead of the strong chew i was used to, and now she barely touches them. also tried microwaving them to see if they would puff up the same and they never fully puffed. not sure what changed but i will probably try to get a refund. when they are in good condition, they are a great treat. not sure why my most recent bag was like this, so i am kinda disappointed

Rotten - do not buy

I usually purchase another brand of yak cheese chews for my dog, but they were out of stock, so I bought this less expensive brand instead. When they arrived, it looked like a good deal because you get more for less money. But when we opened them, they smelled awful and moldy. My dog won't touch them. They will be going in the trash, so this was a waste of money. FYI, I am required to give at least 1 star to submit this review, but they aren't even worth that!

Long lasting bone

My pup is three and still an active chewer. One of these bones lasts for weeks. He picks it up, chews and chews then leaves it for a bit only to return and continue. I am happy it lasts so long.

they’ve changed

This time the bag I received is much darker and just disintegrate with hardly any chewing at all. Huge hard, sharp chunks just fall apart all over. These are pretty pricy in my opinion, and are not worth the money to go through one in under 5 minutes. Perhaps the bag I received has gone bad, but I won’t be purchasing again to find out if they’re rotten or the formulation has just changed. Bummer because my dog has loved them and it’s kept her very busy in the past. I would honestly try to get my money back if I had something to return, but I thought maybe just one was wonky, but it was the whole bag. Gone in minutes.

Shards cause issues

I thought these would be great for my 3 chewers who like to spend time chewing bones. Hard and should take some time. However, I just had to spend $5000 in ER bills to get a shard out of my dogs stomach. Luckily they got it before it went in the intestines. But I will no longer purchase these due to the shards, etc that just don't dissolve in stomach.

DO NOT BUY

I have bought this brand several times in the past however the last bag purchases in Nov 2022 had been awful. They are splintering and breaking into pieces when they hit the floor. This has never happened in the past. There is obviously a product issue. Please don’t risk your dogs health
