Really, No Downside Except the Expense

By lclaurie on Aug 8, 2021

I finally talked my wife into reading about all the negative effects of clay cat litter, and she agreed to try two different types of soy cat litter. This one was the winner hands down. Pleasant appearance in the box, good clumping, and little scattering around the outside of the box (we have 5 cats using 2 boxes). Also, it is much, much lighter than clay. My only complaint is the expense. It is much more expensive than clay in the short-term. Long-term, we may find that it lasts longer to mitigate the higher initial cost, but that remains to be seen.

    Really good cat litter

By Michelle on Jul 4, 2021

It’s soft on their paws, doesn’t get muddy like clay litter and doesn’t stink. It clumps very well and a lot lower tracking than other litters we have tried. My cats get respiratory infection and have allergies. This works great for them. The brands we tried before this smelled bad or got muddy fast. Some even had a lot of dust when they claimed not to.So this has been great.

Nice litter, a little pricy but worth it for me...

By BoogsMom on Nov 3, 2020

My elderly cat urinates frequently and copiously, and has an uncanny knack for stepping in the fresh clump of litter on the way out of the box. I wanted a litter that wouldn’t clump between his pads, be tracked all over the house, and turn to concrete in his stomach if he licked his paws clean. Clay based litters had become a nightmare in oh-so-many ways. This litter has a nice grassy scent, does a great job covering odors without a strong fragrance, and clumps well. So far, my old guy has not had the messy feet nor the upset stomach he seemed to have daily with the clay litter. The eco kitty tofu litter is a little dusty, and does track somewhat, but not nearly as bad as the clay litter My elderly cat urinates frequently and copiously, and has an uncanny knack for stepping in the fresh clump of litter on the way out of the box. The eco kitty tofu litter is a little dusty, and does track somewhat, but not nearly as bad as the clay litter was. I think if the pellets were chopped a little less finely there would be both less tracking and less dust. It is a little pricy, especially as one 7 lb. bag is not enough to fill an empty x-large box, (I used about 17 lbs to get started and add about 2-3 lbs a week) but with daily cleaning, it seems to be lasting well. Of course you need to replenish what is removed in the clumps, but for me and my old cat, it’s a vast improvement. … more

    not for us

    By kittyl on Sep 19, 2020 top250Contributor

i like the idea of this and it is good on every point except the small size of the pieces which just get tracked and scattered like crazy. it doesn't control odor as well as our regular cat litter but might still be acceptable enough if was in a pellet form like we normally use. this cat litter is also pretty pricey for the amount. we used a bag of it up (mixed into our regular litter) but probably won't order again.

Good idea- did not work well

By Bernie on Sep 5, 2020

Love eco and kitty friendly litter. Bought this after reading good reviews. However this specific brand TRACKS everywhere and I smelled every little pee my cat did. Every single day had to sweep from the box to hallway to the living room because it tracked so bad. My cat's walnut shell litter did not do this and concealed scent way better. Sorry, this brand did not work for me.

    Love this litter

By Jess on Jul 26, 2020

This is the best litter I have ever found. It clumps very well and keeps odors at bay. It tracks, but no more than every other litter out there (and, I've found, less than clay). If you want zero tracking...don't use litter. The only thing I don't like about it is the price and what little product you get per bag. Yikes! I am glad I only have one cat. But, I will continue to buy it because it's the best.

    I would not recommend this

By Bearsmom on Jul 8, 2020

This litter becomes like cement. If you buy it use something to cut it with. It is very dusty when pouring out of the bag which freaked me out to start with. Then as with all litters, it tracks but, it doesn't just track little pieces it tracks chunks of used litter, ugh. I was really hoping this would be great, it's not and it was too expensive to throw away so we are dealing with it and adding to the list of don't buy again.

    It's a love/hate relationship

    By lbkinflorida on Feb 7, 2020 top250Contributor

Speaking from the experience of owning a special-needs cat sanctuary, I can promote this litter on clumping, odor control and dust. With regard to those three factors, it's very good. It clumps as well clay or grass litter. The aroma is natural, light and non-toxic. Zero dust. Typically we use the grass-based litters but we do have a couple of cats who will eat that litter so we've tried this instead. The granules are bigger (heavier) than grass litter so there's less tracking. However, like all litters, it still gets kicked out of the box but it is very easy to sweep up. The "hate" issues I have are the size of the bags and price. There is barely enough litter in this bag to fill an average Speaking from the experience of owning a special-needs cat sanctuary, I can promote this litter on clumping, odor control and dust. The "hate" issues I have are the size of the bags and price. There is barely enough litter in this bag to fill an average size box. I'm not referring to a large litter box. One bag for a singular cat lasted about 1.5 weeks. Using only a few inches of litter is NOT adequate. If the bags were slightly larger, I could have added more to the box and extended it out to last 2 weeks. If this litter were cost effective, we would purchase it in a heartbeat for all 25 litter boxes. Unfortunately it's too expensive for us when one bag barely fits the requirements of a regular sized litter box. … more
