A Good Alternative
By hannahbeth794 on Feb 11, 2021
I think I should note that I purchased these for hamsters. I mostly saw reviews for rats but decided to give them a try. Both of my hamsters absolutely love these but I don't give them often due to the added sugar in them. The added sugar is why I only gave 4 stars. These are not healthy treats. However, I purchased these mostly because the eCOTRITION cheese chews have (supposedly) been discontinued so I melted these down and brushed a light layer on some wooden chew sticks to trick my picky hamsters. I have tried almost everything and they refuse to chew basically everything I've offered except for the cheese chews from this company. I mean this in the best way: they’re rats.

A lot of people are giving this a bad review because it’s unhealthy... that’s weird to me. Rats are hardy little dudes. They’ve evolved as scavengers and they love love love eating. Obviously give them healthy food and avoid diabetes as best you can but I don’t think any rat would choose living 2.5 years instead of 2 years over eating what they want to. Also, more to the point, these are wonderful treats. They have a super strong odor which, I’m pretty sure, is why they’re working so well for maze running. I can smell these from a yard away, they could probably catch a whiff of this from a football field away at least lol. ONE downside is they definitely rub off on your hands and some of my A lot of people are giving this a bad review because it’s unhealthy... that’s weird to me. Rats are hardy little dudes. These is basically crack for rats. For years I avoided stuff like this but at the end of the day my rats aren’t overweight so why not make them happy.

My rats go crazy for these. All I have to do is crinkle the bag and they come running. My husband said they don't really taste like cheese but he can see why the rats like them.

These are my babies' favorite treat. They came to us super fast and at a fair price, lower than most retailers.

These are not the healthiest treats, so this is an occasional surprise. That said, my girls love these treats and will come out when they hear the bag.

Pleasantly Surprised

My hamster does not normally squeak, but he will for these. For some reason they just get him going. I would definitely recommend, just make sure not to overfeed your little ones.
