Instructions

Installation Instructions & Setup:

To insert the batteries (2 x AA size 1.5V alkaline batteries), open the Housing Cover by applying light pressure on the Locking Clip. Pay attention to the proper polarity of the batteries. Note: DO NOT use rechargeable batteries.

Closing the Housing Cover:

Insert the upper edge of the Drive Unit and pivot downwards until the lock engages.

Changing Batteries:

If the symbol "LO" appears on the Display, it means that the batteries are almost empty. The feeding procedure will still be carried out, but the batteries should be replaced. After about three days, the entire Display will blink and the device will shut off automatically in order to prevent the Feed Container from stopping in a downward position.

Programming:

The "Feed Mode" offers 3 options, which are shown in the upper line of the Display, to the right of the Feed Digits (1-4). No Arrow = The Time is stored but no feeding occurs. 1 Arrow = The Feed Container rotates once. 2 Arrows = The Feed Container rotates twice with a 1 minute interval. This extends the time interval for feeding without engaging additional feeding times.

General Programming Rules: MODE switches initially between the current time and the feeding times (1 to 4 consecutively). The current time is displayed whenever you see the blinking arrows. The feeding times are differentiated by digits (1-4) appearing on the upper section of the Display. SET allows the displayed times to be changed. With MODE, the displayed time can be changed between Hours and Minutes, as well as the Feeding Mode. The Time and Feeding Mode can be set to a higher number with the "+" Button. SET stores the programmed time and scrolls to the next feeding time to be programmed. Example: After the batteries have been inserted, the Time begins at "00:00" and the Arrows will blink at one second intervals.

Setting the Current Time: Press SET > "Hours" will blink and the desired number can be entered with the "+" Button. Then press MODE > "Minutes" will blink and the desired number can be entered with the "+" Button. Finally, press SET > Current time has now been entered.

Programming Feeding Time 1: Press MODE > Feeding Time 1 is displayed as "00:00" with the digit "1" on the upper section of the LCD. Then press SET > "Hours" will blink and the desired number can be entered with the "+" Button. Then press MODE > "Minutes" will blink and the desired number can be entered with the "+" Button. Then press MODE again > The Digit "1" will blink. Press the "+" Button once for a single ration and press the "+" Button twice for a double ration. Finally, press SET > Feeding Time 1 has now been entered. The next feeding time will be displayed and it can be programmed in the same manner.

Manual Operation For feeding outside the programmed times, press the "EHEIM" Manual Feeding Button to manually trigger the rotation of the Food Container.

Filling Take out the Food Container and remove the cover on the back. Clean the Drum, making sure it is dry before filling it with food. Place the cover back on and insert the Drum unit onto the Axis. The Automatic Feeder is recommended for dry fish foods such as flake food and granules. DO NOT use for live or freeze dried foods.

Feeding Amount Adjust the Sliding Cover on the Food Container to control the amount of food dispensed. For larger amounts, program the Feeder for double portion.

Positioning Place the Automatic Feeder so the food can fall freely into the aquarium. Be sure not to cover the air-intake opening.

    Works great!

    By on

A little tricky to set, but once you figure it out, it works great. I recommend testing it out for a few days before you go on a trip to make sure you have it set properly and positioned properly, and test how much food you want to come out with each feeding with the adjustable opening. One thing I did wrong was set it against the aquarium light and didn't realize that it couldn't rotate because the light was against it. So I repositioned it on top of the light instead so that it can freely turn over the same opening. Love it!

    Just What I Needed

    By on

Bought this to feed my crayfish while I was on vacation, and I am very glad I did! It's easy to program and seems to be high quality. My only issue is that they include cheap Chinese batteries with it, but then so does every company. So far, the included batteries have lasted a week, so maybe they're not so bad. Would buy again! Also, Eheim has videos on You Tube that show you how to program it if you're not the instruction-reading type (though the instructions are easy to follow).

    Nothing clumps up!

    By on

I used a different brand/type of automatic feeder last year when I went on a trip and I came back to a clumped up and clogged feeder. I bought this one because it rotates and the opening stays on top so the moisture won't clump up the food. I tested it this week by leaving it on my tank and letting it do the feeding all week. It's perfect! No moisture in the food at all. Also, I do have a tank with a lid, but I removed the small front section of one of the lids and just sat the feeder on top rather than use the attachments to hold it on. It's weighted enough that it sits on top of the lid nicely and the food goes directly into the tank. You can adjust the opening, so test it with whatever type I used a different brand/type of automatic feeder last year when I went on a trip and I came back to a clumped up and clogged feeder. Use Daily- fish will grow fast

    By on

Perfect feeder to supplement manual feeding every day. I use new life spectrum pellets and get consistent portions with this feeder. Mine is set to feed at 8AM and Noon, then I feed again later in the evening when I am home. My fish know the schedule and will start waiting for the feeder a few minutes before it cycles. Growth rates have increased and spreading out feedings means less wasted food. Nice to know I can leave for vacation as well, tho not my intended use.

    Works great!

We had planned a 5 day getaway and we’re worried about our fish. The Eheim automatic fish feeder worked great! The timer works fine - just remember that it’s a 24 hour clock. We’re very pleased with it.

Best I've had so far ...

    By on

Most of these work about the same, but I like the size, and settings of this one best. The one fault they ALL seem to have is the difference in the amount of food dispensed, from one setting, to the next. It's barely enough, to way too much. I wish you could fine tune it more. I've kept it on the "barely enough", lowest setting, and set it to rotate twice, within that particular feeding. That's a great feature on this feeder, being able to set the number of rotations.

Friendly Fish Feeder for Anytime Feeding

    By on

Just make sure to crush the flakes into tiny crumbs, or just use pellet food - and it will work great for you! I had to get three of them for our vacation, and I have been using them daily to see how they work. I am very happy with them.

    Good Fish Feeder

    By on

I was going on vacation and needed fish feeders quickly. I purchased 2 from another pet store and they were useless! I did a little more research and found these at Chewy. The good news is that they arrived 2 days before I was leaving so I was able to try them out, which allowed to go on vacation knowing that my fish would be fed. They work exactly as described. I have top feeders & they seem to recognize the sound of the cup rotating and come up to the top to get their food. I love Chewy because their products are a little less than brick and mortar stores. Everything that I have order thus far as arrived the very next day!! Great online store, great prices, great service - that's CHEWY I was going on vacation and needed fish feeders quickly. The one and only!

    By on

I've been away from home shorter and longer periods. The longest was a 16 days. I came home all the fish were alive and thriving. I even had fry from my black neon tetra's they were sucked up and swimming behind the filter, they are still alive and swimming free in a 5 gallon. Buy Eheim ! I have 2 of them one for my 10 gallon and one for my 20.
