Bought my kit elsewhere but wanted to leave a review on the product itself. Received my kit pretty quickly, swab was easy, even on my senior dog that will chew anything you put near her mouth. I received continuous emails with updates on the process and the result came very fast. I don’t know why other’s have problems with receiving results, I was pleasantly surprised how fast they came in. It was a shock to find out my dog’s true mix, but what most people don’t understand is the way DNA works. Your dog can look completely different than what you picture from the results, that doesn’t mean it’s wrong. The detailed report gives much more information and after doing lots of research on WHY my dog got those results and the dominant traits with those, it all makes sense. Don’t be shocked and immediately run to saying the results are wrong if you’re holding (what you believe is) a chihuahua or terrier in your hands and it says they’re a poodle mix. It’s all in the genes. Glad I got this for my senior pup! I’ve always wondered.
I sent out the swab 2 weeks ago. The tracking number shows old information, but all Embark tells me is I just need to wait until it gets updated. It sounds like they know this happens but don't do anything about it. So far it has been a frustrating experience and I feel like it's just waste of time and energy.
We were interested in learning the breed mix for our out-of-state rescue pooch, but were puzzled by the results. The report listed all large breeds in addition to a healthy percentage of supermutt, and estimated our dog's weight at 49 lbs. She's actually 28 lbs and is definitely an adult. This discrepancy made us question the other details on the report.
The Embark DNA test results were fascinating. I loved learned about my dog's mix of breeds, and I greatly appreciated their flagging certain potential health issues. The lab processed my dog's sample quickly and had the results sooner than I expected.
