Description

Enrofloxacin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic prescribed to help manage various diseases associated with certain types of bacteria. It works against both gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, including those causing skin infections, as well as urinary and respiratory tract infections. Customers may receive this drug under the name Baytril.

Uses

Enrofloxacin is an oral antibiotic indicated in the treatment of bacterial infections of the urinary tract, prostate, liver, gastrointestinal tract, and other body systems.

Possible Side Effects

In rare instances, use of this product has been associated with retinal toxicity. To avoid negative side effects, take exactly as directed by your veterinarian. Enrofloxacin is contraindicated in pets known to be allergic to quinolones (a type of antibiotic).

Drug & Food Interactions

Vitamins and supplements, probenecid or an oral cyclosporine may cause a negative reaction when taken with Enrofloxacin. Antacids, sucralfate, or iron, aluminum, calcium, or dairy product may decrease absorption.

Precautions

Quinolone-class drugs should be used with caution in animals with known or suspected central nervous system (CNS) disorders. In such animals, quinolones have, in rare instances, been associated with CNS stimulation which may lead to convulsive seizures. The use of fluroquinolones in cats has been reported to adversely affect the retina. Such products should be used with caution in cats,

    slow to ship

    By on

Took 2 weeks to ship. Did not state delay until after order was placed and paid for. An antibiotic should be shipped much faster than that. Had I known about the delay, would have obtained the antibiotic from the vet directly.

Easy to give and worked like a charm!

Our lab had a pseudomonas infection in both of his ears. our vet prescribed the Baytril ear drops as well as this oral antibiotic to give him for ten days. This cleared up his ear infections and his ears got a clean bill of health on our followup visit. Thanks Chewy!

    Great drug-Great price

    By on

I have a blind senior puppy mill survivor with right sided paralysis who thinks she is still having puppies. she obsessively licks /cleans her hind area resulting in an E-Coll UTI. The baytril is the only drug that is effective. We are so grateful that we are able to purchase it at Chewy’s for less than 1/2 the price of the vet.

    Helps my dog

    By on

I can't take credit for ordering this med...my vet did. My dog gets hot spots that turn into ugly sores. I finally shaved her back this summer to clear them up. This med works well.

    Poor construction on lid

    By on

The only reason I didn't rate this product as 5 stars is that the insert on the lid keeps coming off. I have experienced this with the bottles of Galliprant that I have on autoship.

    Not for small dogs

    By on

I have a 14lb Bichon who has to take this for 3 weeks. 1/2 a pill per day THEY'RE HUGE PILLS. I've tried to quarter them, but they just crumble. Ask you vet to write a different antibiotic if you have a dog That's small.
