Feed this food to: small-breed puppies (20 lbs. or less at maturity) 1–12 months. Also recommended for pregnant and nursing dogs. During the last three weeks of gestation, increase feeding amounts by 25% to 50%. During lactation, feed as much as she wants (usually two to five times the guideline amount, depending on litter size). Remember to have clean, fresh water available for your dog at all times.

Transition Instructions

Use A Gradual Transition: Introduce the new food progressively over a four-day period by mixing it with your pet's previous food. Begin with a proportion of about 25% new food to 75% previous food. Gradually increase the amount of new food and decrease the amount of previous food until you are feeding only the new diet.

Maintain Normal Feeding Patterns: Feed your dog or cat at the same time each day and in the same area. Use the same bowl, and avoid making abrupt changes to feeding routines.

Enhance Appeal: If your pet tends to be finicky about new foods (this is especially common with some cats), you can boost the appeal of the new food by mixing a little warm water with the food or by initially hand feeding a few pieces. If you mix food with water, discard any uneaten portion after 20 minutes to prevent spoilage.

My sheltie puppy was brought home at 8 weeks of age. Unlike my other shelties she is a finicky eater and her food has to be mixed with goat's milk, cottage cheese and plain yogurt. She only gets 1/4 a cup 3 times a day and does not finish all her meals.

I love not having to run to the store or vet's office for my food. I have a boy who needs a special diet and you have always had it. You contact the vet and all is taken care of. Was having trouble finding puppy food for my new baby and you had it. Thank you for having all I need. I live at least 45 minutes away from anything to get my food and you take care of it all for me.

  • One Happy Little Pomeranian!!

We got our puppy, Cooper, in Dec. he was raised on this product and seemed to like it. We also have two big Rough Collies. 100 lbs each that dine on Nutro products When we put down Coopers food, all three rush over to his dish. The puppy food is very popular. We soak it a little to make chewing easier (he has very little teeth) and he really likes it. He is bulked up to six pounds and has a goal of 100 ounces! This is a great puppy food. He likes it and it is digested well, if you get my drift. As we say in Boston, wicked good stuff!!

  • Great product for Westies

We have 5 West Highland White Terriers. They have skin problems and the Eukanuba brand seems to keep the skin problems in check. We feed the expecting Mom the puppy food for good milk production and more vitamins for the Mom before delivery.

  • Puppies seem to like it.

Eukanuba was recommended to us by the breeder. We have small breed Shorkies and it is the right size for them. Recently however I have read some negative comments on what some of the ingredients are. I will do some research and see for myself. I suggest anyone looking for a dog food to do their research.

  • Great for young small breed puppy's

    By on

This's product was recommended from breeder after I purchased my baby pomarian. She was only two pounds but able to eat solid food. He gave me enough for a few days and she loved it. My other puppy 10 months loved it to. I called up Chewy right away for auto ship. However found that the bag was almost empty and chewy adjusted my auto ship immediately. Excellent product for young hungry pups. Easy small bites that cause no tummy upset.
