    Great Food

By Goldenmom on Feb 15, 2020

I use this food as a topper for my three golden retrievers. I am amazed that so many people take the grease out of the can and throw it away. Chicken fat is very nutritious for dogs. I know alot of people are afraid of them but bones are again a wonderful nutritious addition to your dogs diet. The bones are cooked enough to not be a problem. I will continue to use this great quality addition to my athletic dogs who are maintained at proper weight. … more

    FULL OF FAT AND GREASE

Fantastic, wholesome product but drain the fat!

    By on

I tried a lot of different high quality dog foods and this is the best one yet. The can is packed full of chicken but grease too so once I open the can(s), I separate out the chicken and put the can of broth back in the fridge. The next morning the fat has risen to the top and solidified. I scoop out the solid fat and dump it into my composting can. I re-introduce the chicken back into the remaining broth. I have a young Maltese so I use Evangers as a kibble-topper (Halo kibble) and crush up any bones with a fork. Although the bones are super soft, and crush up with two pats of a fork, I don’t take any chances. My dog loves his food and it smells great!

Smells a little skunky but our 4 Siberian Huskys have been loving it for years!

We alternate this with Braised Beef Chunks and they have not tired of either in the 3 years we've been feeding them this daily. I agree with others that it is watery but given that it's cooked after packed in the can, that is a mixture of water and healthy chicken juices.(They also have healthy dry food available to them 24/7 so they get the added nutrients that this alone does not provide.)

Excellent food topper - just watch how much you give your dog.

My Boston loves this mixed with her dry food which she has never been enthusiastic about eating. Started to try this as a mixer with her dry food and now she will lick the bowl clean! I only use about 1/3 of the can a day. I don’t think this food is necessarily healthy and there is a lot of gravy/fatty liquid in there which I’m guessing makes it move tasty for the dog - but adding too much will definitely cause a loose stool for dogs. The chicken can be a hit or miss with quantity - some cans have more than others. But I’ll microwave it for 20 seconds then mix it with the dry food and my dog loves it. I’ll refridgerate it over a couple days and it stays just fine. Otherwise I’ll continue My Boston loves this mixed with her dry food which she has never been enthusiastic about eating. Dogs Love It, Humans Not

The dogs love the thighs, but they have a terrible smell that concerns us that there is something wrong with them. We will not reorder them.

    Good Product

    By on

I liked it, but my Lab is old & has ulcers, so she could not eat it without throwing up. My other two dogs loved it. Could use a little less broth; too much compared to the meat.

Good product, but can half empty

    By on

My dogs seem to like this product, but it's a bit over priced. I opened a new can and it was half empty. What was in the can was mostly juice and fat. By the time I emptied that out, there was just one piece of chicken. Other cans were OK.

2 Paws Up for Chicken Thighs & Squishy Bones...but...

    By on

I have 2 rescue dogs. My rescued Shih Tzu is a former puppy mill mommy (even has a USDA tattoo on her tummy :-(...) & a now senior black lab. They eat a variety of food--a mix of dry/wet & sometimes topped w shredded cheese for a change. The first time I brought home Evanders Duck, Rabbit & Pheasant food from an actual local family dog food store they knew something special was coming. But...I saw something never seen before w the Evanders Chicken Thighs food. My senior dogs sit up straight, eyes popped out from just the box of cans on the floor before putting them away. The black lab tried to pull a can out by knocking it over so I had to let them have some while I put groceries away. Got some I have 2 rescue dogs. The black lab tried to pull a can out by knocking it over so I had to let them have some while I put groceries away. Got some dry food as a base for broth & dumped out the slightly weird looking chickeny concoction. The dogs would have high-pawed it if they didn't dive mouth first into the bowl. After they both sat in stunned silence with a "WHAT WAS THAT? look". The price is a little high but it isn't an every day thing. My one human complaint was after I served all 5 cans, 2 cans contained 10% chicken meat & 90% broth & jiggly fat globs. Maybe a $5 coupon (*wink wink*) would make me more inclined to add this to regular rotation of food. … more

    Good mix in

    By on

This does contain whole chicken thighs, but the bones are soft enough to break apart. I use as a mix in with my dogs dry food.
