Yes. Struvite crystals, rock - like accretions that scrape sensitive tissues in the urinary tract, are a major cause of inflammation and infection in dogs and cats. The formation of struvite crystals is possible when urine is too alkaline. In meat, we are provided with an acidifier that is natural and promotes overall good health in dogs and cats. So increasing the amount of high quality meat consumed can acidify the urine and help prevent the formation of struvite crystals. Choose from among the 8 Grain Free Game Meats, Hunk of Beef, 100% Organic Chicken, as well as many others. These products are excellent supplements or treats for dogs and cats. For balanced meals, which contain vitamins and minerals, try our Chicken Dinner and Beef Dinner for dogs; Certified Organic Braised Chicken Dinner, Organic Turkey with Butternut Squash, and Holistic Pheasant Dinner for cats. Of course, any dog or cat with urinary tract problems should be under the care of a veterinarian.
Any Evanger’s food that is pure meat, such as the Grain Free Game Meats, Hunk of Beef, and Wild Salmon, can be fed to both cats and dogs as snacks, treats, or mixed with Evanger’s dry food, snacks, or treats. However, foods that include vitamins and minerals to make a complete balanced diet are formulated specifically for a dog or cat and should be fed to the indicated species.Knowing the different dietary needs of dogs and cats is very important because pet owners that allow a dog to eat cat food or a cat to eat dog food could end up with a very sick pet….or worse. Illnesses do not usually happen if only a few meals are shared, but will happen if it continues on a regular basis. Incidentally, dogs are omnivores like people; they eat both meat and vegetables. Cats are obligate carnivores; they eat mostly meat. Cats have a higher protein and fat requirement than dogs. Dogs that eat cat food could end up with liver, kidney and/or pancreatic problems because cat foods are too high in protein and fat for dogs to properly metabolize. Cats that eat dog foods could end up blind or with a serious heart condition called dilated cardiomyopathy because cats have a dietary need for taurine. Dogs naturally make the amino acid taurine, while cats must have it supplied in their diets; all Evanger’s cat foods contain taurine. Cats also require a different form of Vitamin A. Dogs, like people, naturally manufacture Vitamin A, if Beta - carotene is supplied in the diet. Last but not least, cats require arachidonic acid, an essential fatty acids for cats. Dogs can manufacture Arachodonic Acid from Omega 3 fatty acids. Both dogs and cats require linoleic (Omega 6) and linolenic (Omega 3) fatty acids.
Evanger’s special slow - cook, pressure - cook process softens the bones so they are splinter - free and easily digestible. Feel free to squeeze a bone in Whole Chicken Thighs or Roasted Chicken Drummette Dinner, you’ll see that the bone collapses instead of splintering, providing the ideal meal for your dog - safe, nutritious, and delicious. Bones add flavor and texture, and are great natural sources of crucial nutrients like calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and iron.
Yes… Diabetic dogs and cats need to reduce carbohydrate intake while maintaining a balanced diet. Evanger’s canned diets contain so much meat (exception: Vegetarian Dinner and 100% Sweet Potato), that they can often be incorporated into the diet of diabetic dogs and cats with healthy kidneys. Diabetic dogs and cats should eat more fowl than red meat. Gold Line Chicken Dinner and Beef Dinner offer dogs a balanced meal with no added carbohydrates. Similarly, Hand Packed Whole Mackerel with Gravy for cats is a delicious low - carb meal. The 8 Grain Free Game Meats and Hunk of Beef and Wild Salmon are nutrient-rich, tasty supplements or treats for diabetic dogs and cats. Please remember that diabetes is a serious medical condition that requires veterinary care. Pets being treated with insulin will require blood checks and possible insulin adjustment when changes are made to the diet.

I never write reviews, but this deserves one! I have an 11yo Chihuahua with on and off pancreatitis through her life, and a 8mo Main Coon kitten who desperately wants her attention. I found my MC giving the Chi her kibble causing more vet bills. Not only does this food solve that problem because they can eat together but since it’s rabbit it has completely fixed all of the digestive issues we’ve dealt for all of these years. I’ve tried EVERYTHING! I feel bad that it took so long to figure out that poultry was the culprit and it is in almost all dog foods! Thank you Evangers for creating a food they both can eat and that doesn’t have any weird fillers!
We wanted to add more flavor to her kibble. This is the perfect solution - it’s only rabbit so doesn’t conflict with the nutritional profile of her kibble, just makes it more enticing. She gets 1/6 can morning/night and I microwave it for 15 seconds just to soften it from the fridge and make it easy to stir in.
Food smelled terrible , the only reason I got this brand because my friend gave some cans to try and my dogs loved them so I decided to purchase a 12 cans from chewy when I opened the can a weird smell came out and I offered some to my dogs , they refused to go near it
My dog has been diagnosed with a GI issue and is on a special Diet/kibble. He is a finicky eater in addition to certain foods causing a 'flair up'. We use this as a supplement and he loves it. He has been on it for the past 4 weeks along with his prescription kibble and we have NO issues. He anticipates his dinner time and loves to eat without any problems. I am grateful to have Evanger's. We also are beginning to buy another type of Evanger's food in a can for my other dog.
I bought this for my 2 Bengals and they both threw it up, I tried it mixed with their other food and they threw up anytime it was in there. Now I have 10 big cans I cant use.
I needed a product safe for multiple pets in my house hold with various food allergies. Rabbit is a protein they all love and their tummies tolerate. It contains ground rabbit, water, RABBIT liver (confirmed by emailing the manufacturer), and guar gum (a water soluble fiber from a bean used as a thickener/stabilizer). My 18 year old cat is on royal canin HP and the canned diet was difficult to get and horribly expensive. I feed her this in addition to her dry food with a bit of omega rich oil and her meds. My dog can't eat many proteins either, mostly eats seafood but tolerates rabbit also. So now if they sneak each others food there is no upset tummies/vet bills. I love that there isn't starches or other animal sources in this food, it makes it healthy and versatile for many species in combination with other food items or supplementations. I have given several cans to friends with cats having horrible poops and they have seen improvement dropping seafood for rabbit. I also gave a can to my friend with a ferret and one with a Tegu. I could see it being part of a a blue tongued skink diet also. Sometimes SIMPLE is BEST.
The problem with trying limited ingredient diets is that the pet I'm feeding this to is already sick and not eating well. My cat won't touch this food. I wish that there was a trial pack of different LID foods so I didn't have whole cases of food that my cat won't eat. What's nice about this food is that it is also a dog food, and I have two dogs that will eat anything, so I can mix it into their food and it won't go to waste. It doesn't help me with my sick cat tho.
My pup loves this as a topper on top of her kibble. I love it as it has very limited ingredients!!
He's somewhat inconsistent in how well he eats it. Sometimes, I can only get him to eat half a can at a time; sometimes, he downs a whole one. I'm not sure if I'll be buying this again, but given that he has IBD, it is useful to have as a food option in the future. I will definitely keep it in mind for future cats.
I have a senior cat that is very picky. She seems to like this product. She also likes other Eanger's products. Usually rabbit and quail.
