Pills are a no-no
Though fleece will keep a hedgie warm and toasty, there are other types of fleece that will take longer to pill, like blizzard or anti-pill. Their little toenails can get tangled up in anything and personally I dont think its worth the price to have an object that can potentially harm a hedgie. Ill be looking for another snuggle pouch with hidden seams and different materials.
Inconsistent quality
I ordered 2 of these and while one seems to be well constructed, the second one had some of the plastic boning sticking out. It should all be concealed by the fleece but it’s not unfortunately. I’m going to try to fix it myself I guess. Disappointed.
Works Great
These are not the prettiest nor the cutest small animal pouches, but they work very well. They're fleece so will keep my hedgie warm. The rainbow zebra print is meh to me, but given the price tags on others from other websites ($20 plus) I was happy to find this more budget friendly option. My hedgehog Boris likes them. The stitching looks solid so should last several washings.
Don't buy it!!!
Do NOT buy this for your hedgehog! The other night I went to get my hedgehog out and his paw was stuck in the bag! The bag was all wrapped around his poor paw. My husband had to cut the bag off and then careful cut the access material off. As my hedgehog sleeps during the day I just assumed he was in there sleeping. He could have gotten it stuck that morning, I do not know. All I know is that somehow a hole had gotten in the bag and his paw stuck. This resulted in him losing 2 toe nails and some hefty vet bills. I DO NOT recommend anyone buys this! Yes he loved it but it is not worth the risk!
Hedgehog Hangout
I redid my hedgehog’s cage and playpen to include more enrichment areas and got one of these in the process. A lot of forums recommended fleece bags for hedgehogs. I placed it in my little guy’s cage and he was hesitant about it at first, but it was a new layout so he may have just been overwhelmed by all the new stuff. He quickly warmed up to it, although I think he likes the large igloo in his playpen more. I like that there is a hoop that keeps the entrance open for ease of entrance/exit as well as for ventilation. The material is thick, so I don’t have to worry about his quills poking me if I hold him in the bag for bonding moments. The flexibility allows my hedgie to move it around and burrow/cuddle as he likes, depending on his mood. I wish I could choose different patterns (rainbow animal print isn’t really my thing), but overall I am pleased with the product. I’m also grateful for the washability of the material since my little guy pooped in it by end of day 2. I recommend possibly getting 2 so that you have a backup while the other one is being cleaned.
