Unless your Veterinarian has told you otherwise, when switching your pet to a Farmina diet from a different food, we suggest making the transition over 10 Days. From days 1 to 3 we recommend feeding 75% of the old food and 25% of the new food. From days 4 to 6 feed 50% old and 50% new. From days 7 to 9 feed 25% old and 75% new. Finally, on day 10 you can start exclusively feeding the new food.
It is SO hard to find a healthy food that she will actually eat! As soon as I put some in her bown, I waited for her to look at it and say "Are you really feeding me this? Do you think it's food!? I avoided grain because I've been hearing it's bad, etc, but I couldn't understand why peas or chickpea was used in the alternative grain-free, either, but that was supposed to be better. I tried so many!! Then I realized that it didn't have corn meal, the worst ingredient, but it was whole grain instead. In the wild, a cat would ingest grains because of what their prey eat, so it can still be digested unless, of course, you overfeed, but that's not the point. They CAN handle SOME grain. If it doesn't make her throw up or get diarrhea, the rating will stay at 5. I understand, and I'm not saying every cat can eat this. Some must be on a science or prescription, regardless, or the ingredients due to it being the only food he/she can eat. Or cannot eat grains. This is aside from that. My cats would not eat anything with peas, didn't like duck, or rabbit, or quail. There are the only meats we didn't try, Lamb and Herring. I avoided fish for so long, but it's not the main ingredient, and maybe Herring is ok compared to tuna or salmon? But after years of trying different foods and many, many hours of research, yes, HOURS, I decided to try this. We will see over the next few weeks how it'll really affect her.
I'm really pleased with this food. Not only does my cat love it (a hit or miss from pet to pet), but his coat is so shiny and super soft. He barely sheds and he is so much more active than he used to be. It has been difficult to find a chicken free pet food and this was a winner for us!
I ordered this because it says no peas in the description... But... There is pea fiber. Sending it back
cats do not seem to like this. When is it and throwing it up every day
Product is good. Product is Very Expensive. I buy cheaper food and bags come with a Velcro seal. This product has no seal built in so I use tape. Real classy ! I have bought Farmina kibble in Velcro seal bags but haven’t seen any in a long time. Stop being cheap and use a bag with a Velcro seal! For what you charge we deserve it
The ingredients seem very healthy but the food itself is very greasy. That’s a red flag for a few reasons. Do your research before buying.
It was great. We loved it. They changed it. My cats love this food but the last batches have seemed lower quality. The food seems to be slightly more sticky and a lighter color than before, and when you see that and the downgraded packaging it looses some of everything that made me love it. The company changed the bag that used to have a velcro closure to a plain old cut it open and let it get stale downgrade. The product and bag downgrades did not result in a change in the (fairly high) price. We used to just love everything about this product, BUT recently I’ve looked at switching because it seems like some corners are being cut.
I had been buying Farmina's Lamb & Blueberry but decided to try the Ancestral Grain Lamb & Blueberry. I put a dish of it next to the one without the Ancestral Grains and they immediately ate this and left the other. They got so excited so it's worth trying. I've done lots of research and have not found any other brand as good or with such high praise from other researchers. When a brand hasn't ever had a recall it is proof that it is wonderful even if it is higher in price. I believe it will keep your pets healthy and will avoid vet bills saving you money in the long run.
I was searching for a different dry food to supplement their wet food. I tried several with mixed success. Then I tried the ND range. All of my cats (20) love this. When I open a new bag there is a scramble to be first to get their head in. A success!
After exhaustive feed tag research and great reviews of the “Ancestral grain” variety, my 3 cats got to choose which flavor they preferred over time. Lamb & Blueberry for the win. I was surprised because they love everything chicken (and don’t like seafood). All 3 like this dry food, don’t over eat, and their litter box is soooo much neater (and less stinky!) My Midwest cats have spoken! I do prefer the zipper-sealed 11 lb bags that I got in one or two auto-ships. Not sure how to request that packaging as the standard for freshness—got spoiled by that design already. Lol
