Does this one have a different pheromone than the Multi-Cat version?
Answer by ChewyAug 30, 2017
The Multicat Feliway will use a synthetic copy of the feline pheromone from the mammary gland area after a mother gives birth to bond with kittens. The Feliway for single cat homes mimics cat’s natural facial pheromones, which creates a calming environment and de-stresses your cat.

My cat likes to sniff the diffuser, is it safe for him to do that? There is a warning that states this is harmful or fatal if swallowed and enters airways...
Answer by ChewyJun 13, 2018
This is safe to be inhaled by your pets. The warning label is referring to if the actual liquid substance enters airways.

can you plug this into a power strip?
Answer by ChewyApr 10, 2019
This diffuser should be plugged directly into an outlet.

How will my cat recognize the pheromones as non threatening. Another words, why doesn’t another cat’s pheromones cause her to panic?
Answer by ChewyApr 21, 2021
Cats communicate through natural messages released in the air: “happy messages” (called feline facial pheromones). When comfortable and happy, cats mark their territory as familiar by rubbing their face against corners, furniture, people, or other cats at home. By doing that, they release a message. When present in the environment, these “happy messages” provide calming and comfort to cats. When modern life conflicts with their natural needs, cats can feel stressed and anxious. When stressed or anxious they do not mark their environment with these “happy messages” anymore and may pee outside the litter box, scratch or hide as a result. FELIWAY CLASSIC provides “happy messages” to cats and makes them feel calm and comfortable at home. By mimicking the natural feline reassuring messages, FELIWAY helps cats happily adjust to pace of modern life, restores calm and may help decrease urine spraying, scratching and hiding.

Don't notice one way or another

I got this because my 12 yr old neutered male cat with a hyperthyroid who's on medications has started howling. There is no special time, nothing special going on. This was recommended by one of the vets from Chewy. My husband has been in the hospital more than home the last 2 years and I thought possible there was some anxiety starting to become too much. I have 4 cats now. There were 5 but one passed at the end of May last year and I know this was hard/confusing to one of them. I haven't really seen any difference in any of the cats behavior. They still fuss at each other. Lyger still scared of thunder storms. Satin still hides from everyone. Brutus still howls.

Feliway Classic Starter Kit

This diffuser has been plugged in for two weeks. I think it is too soon to notice major changes in my Hershey’s overgrooming. Seems a little less but it will take time for the fur to grow in on her belly and back legs so I cannot say definitively yet if it is helping. I may order a refill to give the diffuser a little more time to work it’s magic.

Effective But Not In a Good Way!

I have 2 cats that fuss with each other; one tends to be the bully. I got the Feliway to see if it would calm them down. I have to say the product is very effective; within a couple days the one who gets bullied was hiding in the bedroom. I thought she was sick; it took me a day or so to realize she was afraid of the Feliway. My guess is she thought there was another cat in the house. I removed the Feliway and the next day she finally came downstairs-- but she immediately peed on the couch. She was back to normal within a few days of removing the Feliway. It really freaked her out.

Works wonders

I had used the spray and thought I'd try this and I'm pleasantly surprised at how well it works. I have 2 cats, brother and sister, both neutered, and strictly indoors. 5 yrs old and have never stepped outside, but I have stray cats around and my male goes nuts and will attach his sister. I bought the spray before and it worked but I'd forget to spray it until he started fighting. I'd spray it and soon he would calm down. Since I got the diffuser a couple weeks ago, I only used the spray once and that was at the other end of the house that the diffuser doesn't reach. It's also the end where the other cats tend to hang out and my male will sit in the window and chatter at them. Between the 2 there has been much more peace in my house and I'm sure his little sister is happy too. I will definitely keep these stocked up, especially since it's getting warmer and I'm sure the strays will be around even more.

Feliway has helped

Last summer a cat showed up on my property. I figured he was a neighbor's cat. Then the neighbor moved but the cat stayed. He would wander through every few days till winter. I set up a small dog house with a extreme weather heating pad and had a heated water dish and food for him under cover. Then a bad cold snap hit and one morning I got up and he had moved into the house through the cat door. He isn't tame enough to pick up but will rub against my leg and then go hide. Unfortunately he and my cats started having major feuds. So I tried this and it helped. I did get another one along with the Multi-cat formula and that has now really helped. I am hoping to be able to get ahold of him long enough to get him in a carrier and down to be neutered. But until then this is working out.

Jacked up price $10 more than 2 years ago

We liked to use this brand because we have 2 male cats and they get pretty frisky without the phermones. The last time I bought a kit, it was 10$ (!!!) less 2 years ago. This inflation is getting out of hand. I'll be trying a different brand because I feel like these companies are taking advantage of their customers.

Does not work

I bought 5 of these hoping it would stop my cat from marking and it has not helped. I really wanted and needed these to work. I even used this with the calming collar and it still hasn't worked. I'm noticing he finds other new areas to spray.

would not recommend

didn't noticeably help my cat at all. i went to unplug something from the same outlet 3 days later and it was covered in the diffuser chemicals. it was leaking all over. so not worth risking your cat's life, especially if they are curious around outlets.

Caused my cat to be sick

The mist slicked over my bathroom floor and carpets. I had to wash them down multiple times to try to remove the slipperiness the mist left. My cat started licking her paws incessantly. She was throwing up and diarrhea. Do not use for at least a Siamese cat. Wish it could be credited.

Not Eating to Non-Stop Play!

My sweet girl who I adopted as a bonded pair (her partner unexpectedly passed) was struggling with a new move. She was refusing to eat-even when hand fed- and not leaving her bed. I gave her a week but no change. My vet recommended this product, and seriously within an hour of plugging it in, my little girl was up and exploring the house. Days later, she barely goes into her bed to hide, as the couch next to the window is much more interesting! I will be purchasing this product for any and all future moves
