After cats give birth, they naturally produce pheromones that send “harmony messages” to their little ones. These messages are calming and promote bonding. Feliway MultiCat 30 Day Starter Kit Calming Diffuser for Cats mimics these natural pheromones to restore harmony between felines who live together.

The pheromone released by Feliway MultiCat is the synthetic copy of the natural comforting pheromone released from the mother cat's mammary area during the nursing period. This appeasing pheromone helps maintain the bond between the kittens and their mother and helps kittens feel safe and secure. The scientific team at Ceva has found that this pheromone can help reduce tension and conflict between cats in the home.
No. Pheromones are species-specific and will only be detected by other cats in the home. Cats of all ages detect these pheromones throughout life.
Yes. There is no minimum age for using Feliway pheromones. Kittens are able to perceive pheromones in the environment and respond accordingly.
It depends on the nature and the extent of the reason you are using the product. The minimum recommended duration for most situations is 1 month. But some situations may benefit from permanent use.
Feliway MultiCat has been tested in households where there is tension and conflict between cats. Feliway MultiCat has not been tested for aggression toward the owner(s). In this situation, consulting your veterinarian or a behaviorist is strongly recommended.
No -- the diffuser should be plugged in continuously day and night. Frequent unplugging may prevent the diffuser from working properly. Efficacy was demonstrated in clinical trials with non-interrupted use of the diffuser allowing the cat to constantly perceive the pheromone’s signal. Furthermore, cats are awake and active even at nocturnal times.
You may continue using your diffuser. According to toxicological data on the components of our products, no particular risk is expected following inhalation of the pheromone products when used as recommended.
Yes, a diffuser can be used in a house (or a vet clinic) where there is an air-conditioner, provided that it is not plugged in near the air-conditioner, vents, cold air returns, or exhaust fans. Being near additional air-flow may accelerate the diffusion process and the refill vial may not last a full 30 days.
When the diffuser is plugged into a working outlet, the diffuser head will be warm to the touch.
Usage with open windows or heavy air flow may result in diffusion at a faster rate. The product may not last the full expected 30 days. In such a case, a different diffuser location should be considered within the house, targeting the area where the cat(s) spends most of its time.
Continue to help reduce tension and conflict amongst your feline friends with an additional Feliway MultiCat Refill!
I used this product along with the other Feliway together on opposite sides of my home (my home is not big normal double wide) my tom's problems (scratching, marking, and aggression) did not calm and I was honestly not impressed especially with the price that I paid. I expected a lot of good things out of this product and I have used them continuously for the last 30 days before I decided to write a review to make sure that I am giving my honest opinion. This product might work on some cats that have more mellow personality however it does not work on Bengals that I am sure of. I wish now that I had my money back that I wasted buying these.
My 5-year old female Siamese suddenly decided she didn't like my 11-year old tiger girl. She stalks her and attacks her for no reason. My 11-year old used to be the Alpha in the house, but now she is terrified of our little Siamese. I bought these Feliway systems in hopes that they would bring peace in our household. We've had them running for about 2 weeks now. There has been little improvement, but I guess a little is better than none. I'm hoping in time they will make peace and everyone in the house will not feel like they have to tip-toe around the 5-year old.
Our girl cat all of a sudden was petrified of our one boy cat. She would not come out from under the bed for two months. only at night when all were sleeping. I needed to try something. She was so scared of him. Within two weeks, all cats were getting back to normal and happy. It has been a month, She now sits in the family room and is in all of her normal spots again. She is back to herself. This was a life saver.
We have three cats, 6, 4, and almost 2 years old. The oldest is easily startled/scared (even though he's the biggest), and has seemed a little stressed since getting our youngest (shedding more primarily). Also our 4-yo and 2-yo haven't been super friendly, but just put up with each other. So I got this a month ago to try and ease nerves and attitudes all around. Within about 3 weeks, the 4-yo and 2-yo were sleeping together and grooming each other, and we've even caught all three sleeping together. Could be a coincidence of just having been under the same roof long enough, but I think this has actually made the different. Greater peace, love, and tranquility is definitely a plus! Try it!
I’ve tried Feliway with several cats over the years, and it’s only had an effect on one. It made enough of a difference for him, though, that I kept buying it. The last couple of diffusers I’ve gotten have only lasted a month or two before they started smelling like they’re burning. I’ve tried using them in different outlets; they still smell. I don’t feel comfortable leaving them plugged in when they smell like that, and in this economy, I can’t afford to replace the diffuser every month, so I won’t be buying Feliway anymore.
So I thought this work slow down my male cats blocking and chasing of my other 2 cats. It didn’t slow it down one bit. I’ll have to find something that is effective.
Daughter moved back home with her cat, and our cat was not happy! This has given us some peace in the house! Still have some aggression but much less than before!
My 5 kitties have lived together with me all their lives, but recently one of them started bullying another one, causing her to pee and poop in odd places and be afraid to come down from her high perch. I remembered reading about Feliway so I bought it and wow! What a difference! No more urine or poops outside the box and no more cowering. I have a nice, calm kitty family again!
My girlfriend and I moved apartments with our 2 cats (both 2 year old girls from the same litter). When they were younger (prior to moving) they cuddled and got along great, playing together all the time, sleeping together, grooming each other. However, once we moved they started fighting constantly blocking each other from food and just generally not getting along. It got to the point where they needed to be separated in different rooms and could not be in contact. Well out of desperation I discovered Feliway and a month later they are back to their normal behavior. I could not recommend any more! It’s great and worked perfectly!
I must admit, I thought Feliway was just a gimmick. I bought it as a last resort to my cat's anxiety. The next step would have been meds, and I was trying to avoid harmful medication. The change I saw in my cat after only 4 days was night and day. He was much more content. No more anxiety, no more yowling, no more sadness. For anyone in the fence about this, I advise you to try it.
