Poor Wheel

This particular cage wasn't the easiest to put together (the directions weren't the clearest) but it does give our hamster a lot of room. On the negative side, the clip for the wheel broke while installing so it can't be used and there isn't room enough in the cage for stationary one. I would love to know who to contact to get a replacement so that we can attach the wheel properly.

Hard to assemble

One of the clear plastic pieces broke while I was trying to put the cage together. It doesn't fit properly (that I could figure out), and the latches were not secure. It is sitting very carefully in place and staying together for the time being, but looks like it could fall apart and second. It would be a really fun cage if it was easier to assemble.

Please read carefully! This cage is good for Mice, NOT for Hamsters or Gerbils!

Please read carefully! Measuring the widest part of the pan (because I assume and severely hope the entire pan will be filled with proper bedding), it is 401 square inches, which is just under the minimum of 450 square inches of unbroken floor space in the United States for Hamsters! The cage is primarily made of plastic, so huge chewers like Gerbils will quickly chew holes all throughout this fairly expensive cage! The tubes are also much too small for Syrians or larger Dwarf Hamsters like Winter White/Djungarians, and are also a perfect area for Gerbils to chew out of...so, overall, this cage is terrible for Hamsters and Gerbils. But, before you leave thinking this cage is a rip-off, please read carefully! This would be a perfect travel carrier for Hamsters, as it would be a lot larger than most out on the market! As long as the wheel and hide are removed and the tubes are blocked off for larger Hamsters, this would be a good travel carrier! The pan is relatively deep, allowing around 4" of bedding, perfect for smaller burrowing animals like Dwarf Hamsters and Mice! It is also quite tall, so it is perfect for Syrian Hamsters and Mice, who love to climb! If you want to use this as a carrier for Hamsters or Mice, don't hesitate to do so! It is pretty sturdy, so I doubt it'll break on the ride like Kaytee cages tend to do...Another bad thing, the only entry point is on the top of the cage! If you shape your hand like a bird claw and go towards a Hamster or Mouse, they'll usually get scared and may resort to biting! As for the accessories that are provided, the wheel is much too small for Hamsters and especially Mice with their long tails! The food dish and hide is plastic, so your little pet could easily decide "Hey, I want to chew on something! How about this food dish or hide?" And as most of us experienced Hammie/Mousey owners know, one thing that often comes in cages that is a massive pain is 1 word.............TUBES!! These things get super dirty really quickly, so once a week or so, you'll have to disassemble the entire cage, disconnect all of the tubes, and clean them, just to attach them back to the cage to remove them once again...But one thing I really like about this cage, especially for Mice, is the wire top door! It allows hanging toys like hammocks to be attached so your Mousey or Syrian Hammie can climb! We all know they LOVE to climb, so why not take advantage of the wire top? Go buy yourself a fleece hammock, coconut hide, or hanging bridge!! They'll thank you for sure...Anyways, overall, I do like this cage as a carrier or temporary cage for Syrian Hamsters or as a carrier, temporary cage, or even as a permanent setup for Mice!! Remember, however, that this is only 401 square inches...Mice need a minimum of 200 sq in each, so this is only suitable for a pair of Mice. However, males MUST stay alone, and females prefer to be in a trio, so I would either use this temporarily for a trio of girls or for a single boy! I hope this review helped!! And have a wonderful day! --Matthias :D
