Good for mice with alterations
By Lorraine on Apr 29, 2021
Disclaimer, I have a lot of pets and pet supplies, so I immediately threw out the water bottle and wheel that came with this to use my own. I also threw out the upper platform, as I feel it is unnecessary and likely to just create mess by allowing my mouse to kick her poo, etc. outside the bars of the cage from the top level. Firstly, I wouldn't put anything other than a mouse or a couple female mice in here as size wise it is small for gerbils or hamsters, but for mice it's great. The deep tray allows me to put in a lot of bedding that my mouse Bridgette can burrow or build her own nest in. It's also nice because she can climb the bars and hang off her hanging toys to her heart's content. Now, unfortunately the only door into this cage is located on the top, and this isn't super great for small prey animals who may get scared of hands reaching from above. If this cage was more accessible by having a front door, I probably would've given it 5 stars. The top door is also kind've hard to open, you basically have to stick a finger through a bar and pull up hard as there's nothing else to grab onto. Overall, this is a basic, solid cage good for mice. … more

Not big enough for any hamster.
By Sarah on Apr 19, 2021 top1000Contributor
I bought this cage before researching and finding out it was too small - wish I had not bought it. I’ll keep it as a travel/temporary cage when I go and visit family for lengths of time I guess, but it’s not great as a full time cage. Even for a dwarf hamster. I have a robo/winter white hybrid dwarf hamster. It looks big with her in it, but after watching her explore it for a week now, I can’t add any new toys or things to do because it’s too small. I do like the clear plastic bottom to see where she’s chosen to burrow, but the entire cage setup is not at all adaptable. I found out too late that the plastic attachment for the wheel on the bottom will NOT come out once attached - so now it’s I bought this cage before researching and finding out it was too small - wish I had not bought it. There is very little room to put anything enriching, especially once you add the appropriate amount of bedding. It’s also difficult to access her from ANYWHERE in the cage. I do like the quiet wheel, but it’s too small for my hamster. The water bottle is useless, like others have said. I will be creating my own plastic bin cage in the near future. … more

Not Suitable for Permanent Living
By Thysen on May 12, 2021
These small cages made with plastic and metal bars are NOT appropriate housing locations for hamsters. Hamsters require enough space to dig, borrow, and explore. The wheel is also too small, and may lead to back problems. I purchased this cage as a temporary holding location for my hamster while I clean her large Niteangel habitat.

It is NOT adaptable
By KathleenJ on Mar 7, 2021
Love this cage. The main reason I purchased this cage was because it was adaptable to connect to additional habitats. WRONG!!! I tried to connect the tubes directly into the hole with and without the rubber ring. Neither option worked. So I have tubes and an additional cage and hide outs that I can't use until I figure out how to connect them together. Additionally, the wheel is too small for my Syrian. He filled half the circumference of the wheel! I'm having to use my old wheel because its bigger. Don't be fooled by the description. Its a really nice cage, IF you are sticking to just this cage and using it for the smaller breed hamsters.

Happy Customer
By Mindy on Jan 18, 2021
I purchased this cage for my daughter’s hamster. The previous cage had plastic circles that could be removed to put in tubing. The genius hamster managed to figure out how to bite at the plastic and remove the pieces, thus escaping her cage. We purchased this cage because it was a much bigger environment for her and only had one plastic circle for tubing that is much harder to pull out. We are extremely happy with this product. The only thing I would change would be to make the wheel not attached to the cage. It sticks and she cannot use it. If anyone has purchased this cage and knows how to remove the wheel, please let me know.

Liked at first
By TenaciousHamster on Feb 26, 2021
Visually this seems like a great cage. However, the water bottle quickly needed to be replaced. Now, the hamster has chewed through the plastic lower level and likes to pee onto the floor of my house. Not even one year in, and I’ll need to replace this cage now completely.

Wheel is WAY to small
By AlBa on Feb 28, 2021
I learned after purchase that this case is too small for any hamster. Worst of all, the wheel is too small for Hamsters especially larger ones like Syrians...it’s terrible for their backs. I removed the wheel and bought a 9” to stick in the cage.

Perfect Habitat

I love that there aren’t any holes on the top level. It also fits the silent wheel I got perfectly!

Amazing Cage
By kendylrodriguez on Jan 15, 2021
Needed a bigger cage for my hamster and this one is perfect. I was hesitant about buying because of the second story flooring but it has no holes so my hamster is less likely to get bumble foot. The directions for the cage are vague but after trial and error I got it. The only thing I don’t like is the small door on the top but I’m able to deal with it.
