is there a monthly fee

A subscription gives you access to the full capabilities of your dog's Fi collar - allowing for remote access to your dog's location and activity. The cost of the subscription covers the GPS/LTE connection to your dog's Fi collar. Without a subscription, the Fi collar will still function - but if your dog wanders outside the range of your smartphone, base or WiFi, they will not be able to locate your pup. It is highly recommend purchasing a subscription if you’re worried about your dog running off.

Is this collar compatible with a Verizon phone?

The collar will act as it's own cellular device on the AT&T LTE-M network to transmit the collar's GPS location to the servers and your app. The mobile carrier you use doesn't matter - your smartphone can be on any cellular network to use Fi.

GPS/LTE subscriptions include a free 30-day trial. Prior to purchase, we recommend first checking to make sure there is AT&T LTE-M coverage around your home or in any other area where your dog may spend time.

Better than nothing....

I decided to take off one day looking for my Mom after she drove out of the driveway because I was frightened by the neighbors shooting guns. Luckily for me, Mom wasn't gone long and was able to track me in the snow for awhile... then had to use Facebooks posts and LOTS of friends to find me. Thought this would work.... and it does.... for awhile.... FAIRLY accurate in location....better on the road than around my home on WiFi. Go Figure! Biggest issue is when it doesn't work.... THEN Mom has to deal with customer service. No voice. Been on hold on chat for 1.5 hours waiting for agent. Got one email contact who asked a question..... responded and been over two hours waiting for a response. So.... better than the price point.

Buyer Beware

The concept of this product is Amazing.. We live on 2 Acres with a LAB who loves to be outdoors. On the 1st day it got reports 4 times that our Dog "Left Home" and than returned 10 min later. This caused my wife to drive across town the first time only to find him asleep on the back porch. after the 3rd time we ignored the warnings. (defeats the purpose of the collar) After the first 72hrs the collar was dead.. I reached out to FI Customer service. (Only Digital no phone) to get told the battery life is less if not on WIFI... Well my WIFI does not cover my 2 acres so I'm stuck with 3 days of battery life.. In return I'm told that the GPS sometimes has errors when it switches from WIFI to LTE (AT&T) and that's likely why it would say he left... Also an error not worth the stress it causes.. If I cant trust the report why even have it.. So long story short I get an RMA for a return that I have to pay the shipping for!!!! very very frustrating....

It’s just decoration

This collar is just decoration. The app tracks YOUR PHONE, not the collar. I’ve used it on hikes with my dogs off leash and the app shows my path (which stayed on the trail) rather than my dogs’, which included romps across a river and field. If you have a dog walker they have to add the app to their phone, because it tracks that and not the collar. I turned on lost mode once while on a hike and it appeared to do nothing.

Charging and battery issues

After 2 months my battery started to give me issues!!! I put it on the charger and it doesn’t charge for very long and stops. I have to keep resetting the base and collar to get it charging again. It also shows the wrong battery percentage left and will die on me when 45% battery life left. I have to reset it many times during charging process and then it says 100% and 1hr later 60%. I need to get a replacement but it’s so difficult to get in touch with a person! Frustrating

Not what it was at one time

I have had the Fi now for two years, first was the Gen 1 that it turns out was the best, I could see where my dog was in my yard (large lot) and knew where to look. I up graded to a Gen 2 for the battery life extension but now I am always receiving escape notifications that my dog has left home with it showing her up to 3/4 of a mile away all while she is in the house or yard near one of the base stations. The online service is always great from Fi, but the product has gotten worse with each and every update. I am on my fifth Fi module in 23 months with 1 upgrade, 2 that quit working and 1 that the case wore out and would not stay attached to the collar.

Design flaw and poor customer service

If there is one thing you want in a GPS tracker it’s reliability and ease of use. FI fails on both fronts. The design of this unit requires a base to charge it. There is no way to charge this with a simple Micro-USB cable. If you are on a road trip and forget the base, guess what, it ends up being an expensive collar. Try to find a base on your trip to charge it? Good luck not even big box stores carry them. Design flaw. Now in terms of tracking, it can be wildly inaccurate. Especially if you have 2 bases and 2 physical different locations with the same SSID. I spent countless hours with FI demonstrating the issues. They know it’s a problem and they have a workaround that the average person would not waste their time with. Let’s say you have a simple setup 1 base, 1 location. The algorithm they have between switching from the base to Bluetooth to Cellular is just wacky and inconsistent. You want it connected to the base which is on your WiFi because that’s the most battery efficient, however even in a small home you will see drain based off where your dog is relative to the base. Solution is to add more bases in hopes the roaming works and they go base to base vs cellular or Bluetooth from your phone. The GPS tracking is based off cell tower locations and is spotty with coverage based on your location to ATT towers. Works well in cities, but if you are active with your dog, assuming you are if you are looking at this, then don’t expect it to be accurate all the time. They have a great social media app to get people to sign up and nice sleep tracking features, but if the core functionality is suspect, then why bother? Lastly their support is poor, chat or email, and very unreliable and conflicting info from one rep to another. They don’t talk live. In my case when identifying the flaws with 2 locations they did call and we worked through the workaround, but that is the exception. On numerous occasions when requesting a call, I got a long email explanation as to why they only do chat and email. All fine and good that’s there policy and I am not down with it, if you are go for it. Summary core functionality is beta at best, support is difficult, but they have a great social media and tracking application. Do you need another one?

Great for tracking activity, but not best for finding dog

This collar is great at tracking our dog's activity and see how he does day to day. We have 13 acres of woods behind our house in Northern Virginia with great cell coverage and have been playing around with the lost dog mode and its accuracy is not consistent and sometime considerably off. We have also taken him for a few hikes in the mountains and it is useless for locating him as there is no coverage. We will probably still keep the cellular plan with the hopes it will help us if he takes off after deer, but don't have great confidence.

Crappy customer service!

They hide behind emails, don’t let you email managers, collar doesn’t last as long as subscription. You have to buy a replacement collar so you don’t waste your subscription. Will not buy another subscription and will not recommend. Don’t know how to treat customers. Uggg. Other options out there for sure.

Do not purchase

Do not waste your money. Collar failed within the first six months. They sent me a replacement and that one has since failed around the 6 month time frame. Their solution? To give me a whopping 20 dollars off of a new one. Save yourself the headache and money.

I've bought two of these and let me tell you..

I bought 2 FI collars. The first collar I got, was the first generation. No one bothered telling me that their 2nd generation model was coming out a month later. So, my Fi collar worked for a couple of months and I paid for a full year subscription. Well, then it stopped working correctly. Not being able to update etc. Tried to contact customer service through email... which is a joke, btw. You can't call them... So, I buy a NEW FI collar (second generation) with another subscription for a year. I thought they had cancelled the first, right? They didn't.. I had to email them, again. and ask that my 1st subscription be cancelled and I not be charged before I was suppose to be. Got that taken care of, now a week later and my FI collar has stopped working. I am looking for a different GPS collar for my dog. Save your money. These folks have kinks within kinks they need to fix.
