    Didn't stay on the collars

    By on

I recently ordered 3 of these findsters for the three dogs that I have and the app works great the only problem is I had them for 2 weeks and they started to fall off the collars attachments and the app couldnt find them. I think if these had a different way of attacking to the collar they world work great but seeing as all of them are lost and I cant find them and they were quite expensive I dont recomend anyone buying them.

    Worthless Do Not Buy

    By on

We really wanted to like this product, but the screw holding the strap together is forever falling out. Luckily, we’ve always been able to find the unit, but it’s just a matter of time before it’s lost forever. Customer service sent new screws once, but we had the same issue. They refuse to send another set. My husband has insanely strong hands from sheet metal work and even after him tightening the screws the tracker still fell off! The tracking ability works only ok. Use your money on something more reliable.

    Peace of mind

We got 2 findsters, one for cat and one for horse. It tracks well and we are in a mountainous rural area. I can let my horses out and know where they are and if the cat strays outside the virtual perimeter fence I get an alarm on my cell phone. Easy to use. Just wish the batteries lasted longer.

    Unbelievably useless

    By on

I've had this product before (about 5 years ago) and it was extremely buggy then, with lags, constant required updates, constantly losing tracking and connection with the pet module, despite being within sight. Now, 5 years later, nothing has changed. In fact, I think it's gotten worse. The first day I used Findster it worked great (just like 5 years ago) but after that, it's been completely useless. I have to factory reset and updated the modules, app, and software EVERY DAY before I can go on a walk. If I do not do this the modules will not communicate with the phone or each other at all. And the first few days, even though I couldn't use the map or radar to find my pet while on the walk, it DID show where my pet had walked AFTER I got back home and updated the software yet again. But the past 3 walks I've taken it completely stops responding after 15 minutes and for the past 2 days it's location has been stuck frozen about 30 miles away, despite being updated and reset. Now the modules won't communicate with each other AT ALL or even update. … more

    attachment mechanism fell off

    By on

I bought this unit after losing my husky on a walk away from home. We did find him and I bought this unit . I used it several times to test it out, I put it away for winter and when I got it out I discovered that the attachment mechanism had come off his collar and is gone. I only use this particular collar on his walks so he doesn't wear it all the time . I notified the company and they did respond and sent me a link to order a replacement for $9.99 and $9.99 for shipping. I emailed them again to say that I don't feel that I should be charged for a defective device. More importantly I am worried if there is a defect with the design of this attachment, what if it would fall off when my I bought this unit after losing my husky on a walk away from home. Like the findster, but 62 too much

    By on

This item does what I want it to, very happy with how it shows where the puppy has been. It is just 62 dollars more than manufacturer sells it for.

    Shiny and attractive

    By on

When my resident bipeds came home with this shiny, attractive item I rubbed my face on it and all seemed well. Then when I was napping (I try to get in at least 7.5hrs napping per day; this ensures I can cope with my schedule of 15hrs sleeping and 90mins licking myself) I woke up with it ATTACHED to me. Exhausting!! I have been roaming the neighborhood trying to find an appropriate twig to hook it on so I can get it off me. Averaging only 3hr naptimes these days. Still, I can't deny that it IS very shiny.

    So far, great system!!!

I read the negative reviews of this product, but I live in a remote area with no cell-phone coverage, so I thought I'd give it a go. Plus, one of my dogs loves to chase deer and can be off for half an hour, which is terrifying given all the coyotes and bobcats around. The units are certainly much smaller and cheaper than the Garmin GPS collars and receivers. After about a month of hiking with my dogs through hills, ravines, and forest cover, I'm pretty darn happy! People need to realize that this product is for walking with your dogs. You should also update the firmware and GPS accuracy as often as you can. Also, if there's a bit of a "lag" updating your dogs' location, just press the arrow/location marker on the map screen, and it updates the location instantly. After 10 or 20 walks, I've had ZERO dropped connections. And I'm careful to charge the units after each walk, so battery life has never been a problem. And the "history" representations of where the dogs walked are so cool. Finally, I've seen a few people say these are too big for small dogs. But they weigh less than an ounce, and my two pups both weigh 13 pounds. They have no problems. And the units have never fallen off, even when running through dense thickets of hard, horizontal juniper branches. So please count this is a big vote for the Findster Duo+! (And no, I wasn't paid to write this review. I bought the Findster system like any regular customer.) … more

falls so far short of the mark it's basically useless

I really wanted this to work, since I'm in an area with crappy cell coverage and often on very remote trails, but after a month of trials, I'm throwing in the towel. I could live with the crappy battery life and ignore the stupid gimmicks that try to game-ify pet ownership; my single biggest and deal breaking issue is the range: a few hundred yards away at best (even across open terrain), then it'll disconnect when you actually need the tracker to start doing its job. Frustrating and completely defeats the purpose. Add to that buggy software and laggy, unreliable update of status for the tracker, and I simply find myself not trusting the tracker when it matters. Don't waste your money!

I really wish this product worked. I live in a rural area with limited cell phone connection and am constantly outdoors with my dogs. I was so excited for a tracker that didn't require a cell phone connection to work. But alas, despite changing all the settings to what was recommended, my tracker loses connection with my dog often within less than 50 feet and fails to reconnect. I have had my dog standing right next to me and my tracker loses connection. I am not technologically challenged and when I ask for help with the product I get the same email every time to follow the same steps to change my settings on my phone and update the app and firmware. The last time I contacted customer service I specifically requested that they not respond with the same set of action steps and it was as if they didn't even read my email as they sent the same set of steps. In addition, I bought two units and one of the units in less than 30 days fell off one of my dogs' collars and is lost. The strap which they give you to hold it on was just gone after a run on a path with no brush or anything. I wanted so much to be leaving the exact opposite of this review, but this product does not work at all after several months of trying and trying to be patient. Don't waste your money!!!! … more
