Flexi Giant Nylon Tape Retractable Dog Leash

We got this leash for our dog, who only weighs ~45 pounds. He loved it and after one use (~15 minute walk), we noticed that the leash was strained so much that it was barely together anymore at the clip - literally hanging by 2 threads. We only got 15 minutes use out of this $45 item. Wish we could get a refund. Really disappointed.

This is the first time I've owned a retractable leash and I'm still trying to get used to it. I'm a little scared of it as I can see that it can hurt you if you don't know how to use it properly. I bought the large one which feels a little heavy for me. I got it because I wanted something to use to train my dog to go offleash. That being said, I don't think this is the right equipment for that. The regular 30ft leash would have been a better choice. If your intention is just to give your dog more leash on a walk then I think this is ok.

My dog pulls hard so I bought this leash to give him a bit more freedom. The button to stop the leash works great and so far has held up to 2-3 weeks of daily walks with intermittent pulling. Love the constant slight tension on the leash so it does not drag on the ground. My only warning with this leash is that if your dog suddenly chases something and you push the button, then prepare to stiffen your arm or you may lose the leash or hurt your arm. My overall impression of this leash is great in the right setting. You should know your dog and his/her behaviors to know how to properly use this leash.

I have had several of this lead, not because they break, but rather because they are so reliable, that I want to have one available at every residence I have as well as in each vehicle. I use this lead nearly every morning as we walk along the Atlantic shoreline, so this lead receives much exposure to salt water and sand. Over time the retracting mechanism is more sluggish, but it does still retract. I usually replace my beach flexi every two years, just because I want very quick retraction. I also love the fact that the lead is open to the air, so if for some reason the lead is not retracting as quickly as it should, I have immediate access to the line, allowing me to figure out where the I have had several of this lead, not because they break, but rather because they are so reliable, that I want to have one available at every residence I have as well as in each vehicle. Initial thought: it weighs A LOT! After four months of daily use: we love it! I didn’t notice the weight anymore after a few uses. My dog loves having “off leash” freedom but I love the safety of still having control for just in case. I stay aware if she starts running to act quickly and stop her so I don’t get yanked over. Keep in mind a large dog on a retractable leash isn’t always a good idea. It is not chew proof but I don’t feel like it’s just going to break out of nowhere. High quality, high visibility and I would buy again.

I have been one totally against this type of leash but I saw this on FB and the reviews and thought it would be much better than getting tangled up in the 30 foot leash I was using for potty breaks at night so I gave it a try. I have am 80# German Shepherd so I ordered the XL. I am simply amazed at the quality of Flexi! I am also amazed how well my guy walks on this leash. He is normally a pretty good puller that we have worked endlessly trying to get under control using a prong but when I put this leash on him something just clicks and there is no pulling and potty breaks have become nice and easy at night. I highly recommend Flexi. This flex and leash is excellent so I can’t give it a new name Flexileaunt. This lease is very very good I love it I should’ve got this when he was little being a little American bully that he is he could’ve used it when he was little if I ever need another one I will buy another one I recommend them to Everybody.

I’m not sure whether my 4 month old Lab chewed through the line or the line wore out prematurely. Or both. Anyway, the line they use is kind of thin. I liked the design and may order a heavier duty version. Or I may try another brand. I was able to sew together the line so it’s workable for now.

Waste of money. This did not last with our 7-month-old lab. She chewed right through the leash. If you have a super chewer get a traditional leash that is less expensive.

Wow, the leads are BRIGHT; great for evening walks. Makes it real easy to see where the dogs are heading off to. These are different from the older Flexi leashes in that the reel is exposed, but everything works wonderfully, like Flexi leashes usually do. Very nice and sturdy leashes. I bought a pair of leashes for the pair of large energetic furballs I am controlling.
