Flexprofen is a clinically-proven NSAID prescribed by veterinarians to treat pain and inflammation resulting from osteoarthritis, post-op conditions and other causes of pain in dogs. Flexprofen is a true, non-crumbling chewable with a delicious beef flavor dogs love, making it easier to dose.
Flexprofen (carprofen) Chewable Tablets are indicated for the relief of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis and for the control of postoperative pain associated with soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries in dogs.
Possible Side Effects
As a class, NSAIDS may be associated with gastrointestinal, kidney and liver side effects. These are usually mild, but may be serious. Pet owners should discontinue therapy and contact their veterinarian immediately if side effects occur. Evaluation for pre-existing conditions and regular monitoring are recommended for pets on any medication, including Flexprofen. Use with other NSAIDS or corticosteroids should be avoided. Drug & Food Interactions
Talk to your veterinarian about any other drugs your pet is taking before starting this medication.
Flexprofen is not recommended for use in dogs with bleeding disorders (e.g., Von Willebrand’s disease), as safety has not been established in dogs with these disorders. The safe use of Flexprofen in animals less than 6 weeks of age, pregnant dogs, dogs used for breeding purposes, or in lactating dogs has not been established. Studies to determine the activity of Flexprofen when administered concomitantly with other protein-bound or similarly
metabolized drugs have not been conducted. Drug compatibility should be monitored closely in patients requiring additional therapy. Such drugs commonly used include cardiac, anticonvulsant and behavioral medications. It has been suggested that treatment with carprofen may reduce the level of inhalant anesthetics needed.
