  • Laminated Heat Mat

    By on

If you have kept reptiles before, you'll already be prepared with your thermostat (sold separately). This mat does not stick onto the tank itself and is good to reach about 80F. I bought it to heat dubia roaches as reptile feeders and was very pleased with the effect.

  • This Thing Sucks

    By on

I bought this for my leopard gecko expecting this to be my main source of heat. It only gets to 80 degrees and looks and feels cheap. I really don't recommend this for your leopard gecko.

  • IMO best type of heat mat for reptiles that use belly heat

    By on

The laminated heat mats such as this Flukers IMO are the best heat mat design. Heat is generated across the entire mat, and the product can be taped down with aluminum tape sold at DIY home stores. No bulky cord entry. No heat mat will keep perfect temps by itself. A temperature controller is necessary to do it right. There must be some common sense here. Also, a pad like this might not be as effective in a very cold room. In that case, a 2nd heat mat or a CHE might be added. I use these under plastic bin enclosures for snakes set on wire shelving. Works perfectly.

  • Works great for my ball python

    By on Top 500 Contributor

I use this heat mat under my ball python tub and it works great. I use a thermostat to regulate the temp so it doesn't get too hot. I like that it does NOT have a sticky back so I can easily move and relocate if needed. I also use a CHE above my tub for added heat. This heat mat isn't designed to give a full tank heat, but rather to provide under belly heat for reptiles that like basking to raise their temps. I've had it about 6 months so far and it's working great.

  • Could Be Better

    By on

NOT INTENDED FOR A SOLO HEAT SOURCE. Although it helps provide reptile belly heat. Its not enough to heat the entire enclosure. Not recommended for cold rooms. Requires a thermostat sold separately.

  • It does the job for me

    By on

I bought this for my dubia colony they need a range of 85-96 degrees and it gets a little warmer than that but there's a gradient so it works for me. I'm not sure I'd use it for a reptile though, unless they don't need it that hot.

  • Not exactly what I expected

    By on

I bought 2 small only because no other size was available at the time I put one on a 40 gallon terrarium and the other on my 20 gallon terrarium. I have 2 beardies one is about a year and the other maybe 2 months in age. Did not help with 40 gal tank barely helped with the 20 gal tank.

  • It's ok, but doesn't.....

    By on

The mat is ok. It regulates the temp somewhat, but if you have a cold night it doesn't seem to meet my standards. I do have a light for warming that I turn on that helps to bring it back up. If you get this, you need to be prepared to have a second source of heat, and don't forget to turn off the light if you have on and cover with a large towel, as that does help a little to keep the heat in. A.S.
