Compounding is a way for licensed pharmacists to create a customized medication that meets your pets specific needs. Compounding pharmacists mix or change one or more FDA-approved medications to prepare a special medication for your pet. For example, if a medication is only available in pill form, the pharmacist might create it in liquid, gel, or capsule form.
Your pet may have a specific health need that cannot be addressed by an FDA-approved drug. For example:

The syringe does not have a squeezable rubber top. It sinks down into the bottle and has to be extracted with my finger nail. I end up touching the syringe and getting the ointment on my fingers which is a waste. Since the top of the syringe is flat and fits into the bottle I thought it was the cover. It was not as I discovered when the bottle tipped over and two thirds of it came out before I noticed. Other than that my cat likes the chicken flavor and she is doing well.
Had seen vet and they advised Romeo should be put on something that might help him with tremors he was having. It is believed it is anxiety. So far this seems to be helping. Also, he has stopped lickiing his paws. Chewey contacted my vet and all is well.
Cat was prescribed Fluoxetine for anxiety, aggression, and separation anxiety. She originally took the pill with just pill wrap but then her teeth started to have issues so she refused the pill. So we made the switch to the liquid and my vet suggested the Marshmallow flavor and I thought that was just silly but she was completely right - I mixed it up with her wet food and she has never had an issue taking the medication. Her aggression and anxiety has decreased dramatically because she was able to start taking it again.
My white cat has had severe allergy, skin licking and scratching issues for over a year. I have tried many things to alleviate her irritation and calm her. Recently the vet suggested we try fluoxetine HCI in a liquid form. I received the medication on Sat. Each day I've given it to her by dropper she immediately throws it up. I cannot use this medicine in liquid form. I'd like to try to the pill form.
For about a year, I've been getting this prescription for my cat. All orders except the most recent one came with the Tuna flavor (no idea why the recent one didn't). Cat hates it plain, but does REALLY well with it when it's tuna flavored. The other problem is the variation in oral syringe that comes with it: sometimes the tip is too big for the bottle opening, sometimes the measurement marks are not useful to the prescription dose (like when the dose is 0.8mL and the oral syringe only marks 0.5 and 1.0mL because it's a wide syringe not the useful narrow one in the listing picture).
Bought this as a replacement for Reconcile since it is constantly out of stock. My Pomeranian, who will literally eat anything and everything, foams at the mouth when taking this and hides. It is obvious that the “chicken” flavor is terrible. Do not recommend.
Chewy is the best. They take care of my animals medicines very well.
My young male cat is not a fan of the taste at all. Even hidden in some wet food. It took some trials to find food that could help mask the taste. Seafood wet cat food seems to be the best. The fluoxetine has helped him be calm and chill rather than anxious.
Our cat began foaming at the mouth and couldn't take this product.
My vet warned me my cat most likely wouldn’t like this even though it was flavored but I was going out of town and wanted it to be easier for the pet sitter. Well the vet was completely right! My cat who is a very laid back cat was retching so hard with this and biting the syringe. The pet sitter didn’t even use it and ended up just pilling him because he hated this liquid so much. Chewy, however, is great. They got it approved and shipped all within a day. They are fast and customer service is amazing. The 30 dollar med however was a complete waste. Used it once and the rest along with the 30 dollars went in the garbage.
