This is my 2nd Fluval 30 gallon filter. My 1st one went out because my electricity went off and the motor ran dry. I did not get to it soon enough to re-prime the motor. This filter does a great job in my 20 gallon tank. I reordered the same kind because I was satisfied with the 1st one.
I bought this for my res turtle tank, and if I knew the following I wouldnt have bought this simply because I typically dont fill my 50 gal turtle tank to the top. The water must be ABOVE where the intake tube and the extension tube connect otherwise your filter wont prime and the water wont filter. I just added a little more water which wasnt a huge deal because my turtle has her own loft above the tank to bask. So if youre using this for a turtle make sure they have an adequate space to bask with the water being so high. Also tubes like these tend to get clogged easier because simply turtle waste, food and other debris are larger than the mess most fish make! This tube is definitely larger in diameter than my previous filter though. So far I like it, pretty quiet and my turtle already tried to take a bite out of the extension tube!
