Control discoloration and keep newborn shrimp safe with Fluval Plant & Shrimp Stratum Plant Care. Newborn shrimp need a place to hide and escape from predators until they are grown. Fluval Plant & Shrimp Stratum Plant Care is an ideal substrate that provides baby shrimp refuge, a nutrient-rich anchoring for plants and vast porous surface for nitrifying bacteria. It does not discolor water and helps control organic discoloration that occurs when natural driftwood is used. The light and small composition is ideal for shrimp to climb on.

This stuff is great if planted tanks or raising shrimp is your goal. I'd recommend rinsing it before putting in the tank & you do not want to use a gravel vac with it.

The shipping speed was exceptional. For 17 dollars, I would’ve expected a bigger bag but I am still satisfied.
The best substrate

The best substrate in the world have tried sand, gravel and other planted substrates but this is definetly the best in the world. So glad they made this! 10 out of 10 there is not one thing I can say that is bad about this!

This substrate is perfect for planted aquariums, and even better if you have shrimp since they can eat it too! It will make the water cloudy for awhile when first added, but looks great once everything settles down. We noticed our Ph level lowered after adding it, so just keep an eye on that before adding new fish. All in all, we’ll definitely use it again!
Holds up well

I have dwarf tears, anubias, java moss, and guppy grass in my tank with no co2 added. I've had the tank about a year now and the pellets are holding their shape and providing for my plants really well even after this long. everything is growing like crazy and the natural look of this product compared to gravel has really pulled my tank together. I would definitely recommend this product to friends. My only advice I didn't have when buying this is to rinse it before adding to tank to reduce cloudiness.

Right now I'm sprouting glossostigma in this, so I can't say for sure how good it is. But, the seeds are sprouting nicely. It seems less dusty than Seachem's Flourite Black - and the Fluval is a very black substrate, not brown like the packaging makes it seem. It's also little balls instead of SeaChem's rougher gravel texture. Overall, much prettier than Seachem. None of my plants, even adult plants, would take root in Flourite Black, so let's hope that changes!
Great fish safe subsoil

Put it in my 40gb to rear a more natural look and feel for my fish and it looks awesome! My plants certainly love it and has grown healthier, the fish loaches and frogs also like laying and cozying on it. Water quality definitely improved. 10/10
