Questions & Answers

4 Customer Questions

Where are the ingredients sourced?
Answer by ChewyJan 21, 2021
The main ingredients in Freely are sourced in the United States. Their sunflower oil and the majority of their minerals are also sourced from the USA, but their calcium iodate can also come from Canada. Freely gets their salmon oil from Chile and most of their vitamins come primarily from Switzerland and Germany, though at times they may also source some them from such countries as France, India, Korea, and Scotland. The rest of their ingredients, such as their rosemary extract and added amino acids, are sourced from either Belgium, Japan, or the USA. At times, they may have limited naturally-sourced vitamins in the formula that originate in China, but do work to avoid this whenever possible. You’ll find that this is common among most pet food brands.

Perfect food choice

This is exactly what was needed! After trying several different foods, finally have one that does not cause itchiness, gas, or vomiting. Yay for Freely!!

Not for my Westie

Not good for my Westie. Upset stomach after a couple days eating it, even during the transition from his old food.

Has helped scratching

I purchased Freely Lamb Recipe Limited Ingredient Whole Grain Dry Dog Food for my Boston Terrier who has allergy issues. I love that this food has one protein source. It has a simple list of ingredients including whole grains and taurine for those concerned with cardiomyopathy . My dog is a good eater so that was not an issue. He does like this food. We are on week six using this food and his itching has greatly reduced!!!

4 out of 4 paws up from my 3 Chihuahuas!

My 3 Chis are sooo hard to please! Between being finicky eaters and getting chronic ear/skin infections/eye gunk/pancreatitis - to finally losing my oldest 15yo Chi 3 years ago to canine Dilated Cardiomyopathy while feeding a no grain dog food that was then found on the FDA list - I've bought and had them reject over 15 dog foods in the past few years alone. I went to raw feeding for a year until coronavirus made it hard to get the raw meat. Back to the drawing board! I chose a new no grain dog food they grudgingly accepted only to find out to my horror it's on the FDA list for Dilated Cardiomyopathy, too! I thought I checked it prior to ever feeding it to them! I checked it again because my current oldest 14yo Chi - Spike - at a recent vet visit was found to have serious heart disease! When I told our vet my eldest Chi female died of DCM at 15 1/2yo, he asked what I was currently feeding my pack. When I said no grain dog food, he said start feeding them dog food with brown rice or oats. My first attempts at finding new dog food are Freely lamb whole grain & Simply Nourish lamb which I mixed together! I FINALLY know what it's like to have 3 dogs who eat all their food! It's a GREAT feeling! Knowing their hearts are safer is icing on the cake! My vet said I can supplement my 3 Chis with powdered 1/8 teaspoon taurine and 1/8 teaspoon l-carnitine to help their little hearts get stronger and that Spike's heart hopefully will improve within 8-12 months! Good luck y'all!

Back on track with this new food

My Golden had stopped eating his food. I was using a different brand of lamb and brown rice with limited ingredients. He is allergic to any chicken products and it's difficult to find dog food that doesn't use chicken or beef fat in their non-chicken protein formulas. This one uses canola or sunflower oil which he tolerates much better. We're sticking with it!

Our dog's FAVORITE food

Our dog has never had much of an appetite, and would often skip meals. We've tried numerous brands without much difference. Our dog also has food sensitivities and seems to benefit from limited ingredient diets. We tried Freely's lamb whole grain offering and I've never seen our dog more excited to eat her food, she loves it. Her bowl is finished a few minutes after serving rather than sitting overnight, and she's showing no signs of any sensitivities to the food. Thank you Freely!!

delicious & nutritious!

I tried Freely's flexitarian and lamb recipes for my 10 yo mixed breed. She is usually a picky eater and a grazer, but she loves Freely's food! Instead of constantly leaving food out, she now finishes the whole bowl in one sitting. She is full of energy and happy. Highly recommend Freely!
