Fresh Step Cat Litter
By SEPA on Jan 15, 2021
I liked the smell of this cat litter and the way it clumps. The only issue I had with this is that there is a lot of dust, even though it claims to be 99% dust free. The cats seemed to hold the dust on their fur and I had to wipe the dust off of items close to the cat boxes daily. Not recommended for someone who has Asthma.

Best litter I've used!
By Vanessa on Nov 23, 2020
I've tried every kind of litter out there from store brands to the super fancy tiny bags. My three kitties love this one and it keeps any litter box odors away (even if I forget to scoop both boxes everyday). You can really smell the Gain scent when you scoop but it isn't overwhelming or too much perfume. The clumps on this are solid and fall apart a lot less than most. One of my cats will not use the box if he doesn't like his litter and this one is a soft sand that seems to keep him happy. I will say do not get the low tracking version of this (which is the only one I have found at big box stores). That version is horrible...smells are not covered at all, urine soaks to the bottom of the box I've tried every kind of litter out there from store brands to the super fancy tiny bags. It's awesome to be able to get this huge bag of the good stuff delivered right to my door by Chewy. :) … more

Don’t like this version
By Cole on Jan 13, 2021
I’m an advid purchaser of Fresh Step. However, the version that does not clump and had blue crystals is MUCH preferred. It does not smell and easier to change out. This version smells quickly, sticks to the box making it a chore to dispose.

Fresh Step is great
By AnotherWendy on Jan 17, 2021
Fresh Step is the only litter I'll use as it's the only one I've used that controls odors well. This size bag is unwieldy, I purchased it in error instead of the multiple smaller bags pack. But still a great product.

Love the litter, not the packaging.
By Hawke on Nov 29, 2020
I love this litter yet ordering in the bags just does not work. I ordered two and they shipped them separately. The first came with a hole in the bag and was all over the box. Just received the second package and it was even far worse. Chewy has resolved everything with this and that is what I love about purchasing from them. At least this time, I opened it on my deck. I wish this Fresh Step came in a large bucket instead of bags.

CHEWY: please read!! Humidity damages litter
By BoboKat on Nov 1, 2020
This litter is great – when you buy it in a sealed box. However, the large bag offered here on Chewy for a great price is NOT GREAT. I think it depends on where the litter is stored before purchase, and where it is shipped to you from. I live in Florida, and I think there is a Chewy shipping center in my state… I have concluded that Chewy must be keeping these large bags of litter in a large facility with HIGH HEAT & HUMIDITY, and NOT somewhere climate-controlled. When you order a smaller size sealed box of the exact same litter, there are MANY differences. 1. Large bag litter particles are TINY, grain-like, almost SAND. Sealed box litter has LARGE granules that are great at absorbing odor This litter is great – when you buy it in a sealed box. Sealed box litter has LARGE granules that are great at absorbing odor and actually work like they are supposed to. 2. Large bag particles DO NOT absorb odor. The bags have been exposed to such heat and humidity that it has literally changed the makeup of the litter inside. Sealed box stuff works as intended. I know this because I complained to Chewy about my first big bag – so they politely sent a replacement. However, the replacement bag had the same exact problem. Buyer beware!! ONLY BUY THE 14 OR 25 LB BOX AND SAVE YOURSELF THE HASSLE! … more

This stuff keeps my house smelling fresh!
By MunchiesMom on Jan 3, 2021
I buy a cheaper litter and mix in about a 1/3 of the Fresh Step with Gain. The smell is great and keeps the house fresh smelling for days. Costs a lot less by mixing and keeps the litterbox from smelling up the house.

Disappointed!!
By Lamberth on Dec 27, 2020
I don’t know why but the litter in the 42lb bag is not the same that comes in the box!! It’s like sand and hardly has any Gain scent!! I love this litter so I will continue to buy it in the boxes not the bag!!

Tracked All Over + Clumps Were Soft
By Kate on Nov 9, 2020
Really bummed about this one, had very high hopes after reading about it in Real Simple. The clay base did not clump well and each clump was soft and mushy. My scoop ended up getting all clogged and also needed a cleaning, which was less than fun. The litter also somehow got wedged into my cat's paws and tracked clay footprints all over the apartment. Sure, the smell is nice and there really isn't much dust, I'll give it that, but the sticky icky clay has to go.

My cat hated this
By Heather on Nov 29, 2020
My cat hated this litter. I used to use an unscented version of this litter. Once the scent changed, she wouldn't use her box. She started to deficate on the floor :( I had the vet ensure there wasn't anything wrong. I changed litters to an unscented brand and she began using the litter box without a problem again.
