One of the Best Cat Litters
I've tried a multitude of cat litters over the past few months and this is my favorite. The clumps are pretty tight at 8.5/10. Arm and Hammer slide has the best, tightest clumps but the price and how frequently I had to buy it was unfortunately a deal breaker for me. But Fresh Step is a great 2nd choice. I also like the unscented type because I used to buy fun smelling ones but felt guilty that my cats have that heavy, fragrant smell constantly on their paws. But unscented lives up to it's name! It has great odor control which is key since I live in a studio apartment. I never smell any poop/pee scents when I walk into my place. There's minimal litter partials that track on the floor. I used Tiddy Cats Unsceneted for awhile and the litter pebbles were all over the place! Never again with that type of litter! Overall, would absolutely recommend this to anybody looking for a great litter at a reasonable price.
Everyone has their opinion as do I. I love my cats but I despise sweeping cat crumbs (litter). It does not matter the type of litter I use, there have always been crumbs. Luckily for me I have hardwood flooring throughout, which makes it's easier(for me). What I am looking for is litter that holds the urine solid and not stuck to the litter box, and my vet has always recommended unscented. This litter is my #2 choice as the urine does not always hold and will also stick to the bottom of the pan (I use Xtra large box and fill it with more than what is recommended in hopes it at least won't stick to the bottom, it still sticks (normally when they go first thing in the morning after holding pee all night lol). I will say that the crumbs themselves seem more soft than some other litter, which is easier on their paw pads & my barefeet.
So far, so good
I bought this litter, as well as their scented clumping litter, to mix together. We have used tidy cats for years but they changed something in their litter, turning it to an awful, sticky mess. We have 4 cats, ages 2-9 years old, 3 short hair and one long hair who is much larger in size. We've been using this mixture for a little over a week and so far, no sticking to the paws! Covers smells well. I chose to do both types of litters together because we have one cat who has problems with scented litters, no issues so far. There is some dust but not a terrible amount. Clumps well! Again: this is a mixture of this litter and their scented litter (also purchased off here, came in a flat with 6 smaller bags). It's a 50/50 mixture.
I was worried that my cats would have a preference for the other litter I had been using for years, however, they seem to have adjusted just fine. I bought this to decrease irritation from litter dust for my cat that has asthma. Not sure if it does anything on that front, but works find as a litter. My one concern is there seems to be a large amount of plastic wrapping. Wish they could get rid of that.
One of the best I have tried
I won't go so far as to say that this litter is completely odorless or dust free. It has a slight lavender odorless and there is a bit of dust when pouring it out of the box. That being said, this is one of the best litters I have tried. It clumps incredibly well. No crumbles with this stuff and it does an amazing job at eliminating cat odor. This brand is my brand of choice when it comes to clay litters.
Best for the money
Not the cheapest but I look for any deal available on Fresh Step & then buy it. Closest 2nd choice is Tidy Cats; however, Fresh Step tracks slightly (emphasis on slightly) less. It’s imperative that you fill the litter box 3” to 4” deep with the litter so that the product clumps without adhering to the bottom of the litter box. Otherwise it’s like trying to remove cement from the box. So you need to use quite a bill BUT it will clean up nicely & in the long run works out economically. I wash the litter boxes at least weekly & any litter that may have adhered to the side or bottom gets scraped into a garbage bag & thrown out as trash to avoid having it go down the drain. I believe you have to wash the boxes to minimize odor no matter what brand you use. My fur bag announces when he has used the box & watches me clean it—I guess it’s to be certain I do a good job with the clean up & to know it’s going to be available for the next dump/pee.
My old litter seemed to change formula so I was on the hunt for a new unscented litter. I am super happy with this Fresh Step litter. My kitty has a history of peeing outside of the litter box and since I've switched, NO ACCIDENTS! I think it might be due to the very little dust from this Fresh Step brand which is another plus. I have to have her litter box in my room because I just moved and I'm really pleased with the odor coverage and no dust. I would definitely recommend!
Great for preventing litterbox odor
I don't mind spending a few more dollars to use this litter in my cat's box. It's definitely more expensive but I find it prevents almost all possible odors from the box. I've used cheap brands and the room with the box ends up smelling like cat pee and such. I will say my cat does track this litter, but clay litter is trackable, what can you do. I recommend this litter if you don't want to smell litterbox odor!
Best I’ve found.
My cat is asthmatic and I can’t stand the scent of heavily-scented cat litter, so I’ve tried at least 10 different litters over the last 9 years. After a while I found Dr. Elsey’s respiratory relief and it was pretty good. Used that for several years. But recently they changed their formula and it barely reduces odor now. So again, I went on the hunt for a decent unscented litter that isn’t too dusty and can control odor. I took a chance on this litter and so far it has been excellent. There is a very very slight scent but can only smell that scent periodically. The dust is pretty low. Clumps well. Holds in odor pretty well. I’ve learned over the years that every clay cat litter is going to track… It gets into the spaces between their toes and comes out. It’s inevitable. Just use a litter mat and vacuum daily. I recommend this litter.
Easy pour cat litter
Like the easy pour of this cat litter and the unscented . I'm not that fond of the scented ones since after the cats use the litter, not that pretty smell. Unscented worked well, didn't smell for over 1 week , afterwards i started to add baking soda to keep any bad smells away
