Bully Breeds, size up.
My American Staffordshire Terrier has a 28” chest and 18” neck, so I ordered the Large. The body of the vest fits great but the neck portion (not adjustable) was too tight. If you have a dog of the same measurements, I recommend trying the XL because the chest/body section allows for a lot of adjustment, so the XL girth could be tightened, whereas the neck of the Large cannot be loosened. BUT I also bought the “Frisco Neoprene” life jacket in Large - and that one DOES fit her measurements, even though this “Frisco Sporty” Frisco one didn’t (because of the neck strap).
Great life jackets for experienced swimmers
We ordered mediums based on experience with another level of same brand and it ended up just a tad too big so that couldn't tighten straps quite enough but close. We now have smalls and they just barely fit but better than the mediums. Our dogs are both 25# chihuahua/rat terrier mixes that favor the rat terrier body. These jackets are less cumbersome than the next model up for less experienced swimmers which is exactly what we needed for our swimming, boating dogs on the Chesapeake Bay. They are safer being able to jump up in cabin easier and are definitely happier in these. Good quality with no complaints so far. Thank you to the great customer service from Chewy helping with our sizing issue. You really just can't beat their service people!
Major difference in sizes
Love the look of this jacket. Purchased size S for my 10 lb Chihuahua according to the sizing chart and it swallowed her up. Received an XS to replace it and it is extremely tight. Hoping it will loosen up once she uses it. This jacket does not allow for much adjustment, If any in the way it is made.
Great life jacket!
This fits perfect and is not bulky or uncomfortable for my little guy. He likes it and it doesn’t bother him to have it in.
Doesn’t have room for adjustments
I ordered an extra small because my Pomeranian weighs 9lbs. Her neck was 8in and chest 15in. But it was just a tad tight and I could not adjust to get the clasp closed. So if you’re on the edge with your measurements get a size bigger. Other then that looks perfect for keeping her head out of the salt water. Have not used it yet.
she loves it!
We wanted to get our little girl a life jacket for her first time on the boat and camping on the island so we order this one a week before and it came 3 days early!! It looks super cute and I love the Velcro on the straps so when you adjust they don’t just hang she absolutely loved wearing it! She did sleep on duty though
Great design but one issue
The jacket is very well made but we have a rambunctious puppy and this one doesn’t have a Velcro waistband like others so it was difficult to get her in it. #chewyteamrated
Not Durable
My dog wore this once for a 5 hour canoe trip and it’s already tearing at the seams. I don’t feel confident putting it back on him, very disappointed. Will be switching to Ruffwear float coats instead.
Such a great product
Bought this for my 95lb American Akita at first she hated it because she never wore a harness or anything of the sort. We left it on her for a bit and she got used to it we went for a swim she hasn't gotten in all the way but she's slowly warming up.
