My cat is 10 years old and had recently put on weight due to being less active. I wanted something that would get him moving, and this toy is doing that! You can swirl the wand around slowly enough that it looks like a bird in flight. The ribbon streamers really add appeal to it, teasing him into chasing and catching it. Only negative so far is a couple feathers came off already & that could be harmful to cats.
I cannot recommend this toy enough. We got this for our cat last week as a birthday present, and she is OBSESSED. During a 40-minute long meeting, all I had to do was hold this toy and she was entertained the entire time. She carries it around the house with her everywhere, just dragging the string and stick along. Every second of the day she is begging for us to play with her with this toy, and even when she is exhausted she still wants this toy. She has ripped off only half of the feather so far, and we will definitely be buying this again when she rips the rest off.
I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this toy. Gold ribbons are a hit and have held up very well to chomps and claws. Body is crinkly and gets the hug and kick response going. Feathers get bent up but go back in place and no breaks so far. Definitely have to hide it away when not in use, in case feathers come loose. Should always hide the toys away anyway to entice for next playtime. Two out of three cats like it; one especially. It doesn’t have an extendable wand but that’s fine. They also like the fat black cord.
The first time I bought one of these, my cat loved it. The second time around, he started scratching a lot after playing with it, and developed a small patch of hair loss on his head. I told my mom that I suspected the cat toy, but she was doubtful. Therefore, I continued letting him play with it. The bald patch on his head kept getting bigger and bigger, and looked AWFUL. I decided to stop using the toy, and he immediately started getting fur back in, and has steadily regrown it over the weeks (thank goodness).
I used to absolutely LOVE these teasers when I first got a cat in 2020. They were the perfect length, weight and super high quality. The only thing that ever went wrong with them was the feathers would disappear in the first week, but that's expected. The rest of the product was strong and rarely broke or got holes or even bent. PLUS they were always one of the cheapest teaser options available. But the last 5 or so just seem to made completely different. The birds got holes in them within the first month or less, the wand itself felt lighter and bent, and then I had to reglue the tops and bottoms caps on them. I used to buy these with almost every order to swap out when they got to grimmy or donate to the shelter I help with. But now the price has gone up and the quality has gone down. So do with that what you will, but this last purchase was probably my last of this kind.
I like this toy a lot. Mommy plays with it with me often, which I love, but sometimes she gets nervous with how high I jump trying to catch it. I never get bored with this toy, so sometimes mommy has to put it away to get me to calm down. No fair!
I got this toy as a birthday present for Griffin who recently turned 3. It's hit or miss with cat toys, but I'm happy to say that Griffin loves this toy! He gets so excited chasing it and has removed several feathers already, a sign of love!
Not the best quality, it was broken with feathers already falling off when it arrived. I'm super happy I was home today, as the string flexes a lot, and quickly wrapped around my cat's neck while he was playing with it. You can nullify this by wrapping the string shorter, but please be careful with this toy.
Once I took this out of the box this evening my cat was immediately in love with it and didn’t want to stop playing with it. Unfortunately she was able to get the feathers out of it by the end of the night and she was trying to eat them. The entire thing is good quality aside from the feather issue.
I bought this for my two energetic kittens and they can't get enough of it! They jump, leap, run and chase after the fluttering toy and then collapse exhausted after a long play time. Highly recommended for kittens and probably for older cats as well.
