Upon the first use my lab puppy's teeth caused it to peel. I always took the bowl up after the meal. Recently I replaced it with a slow feeder by Hound. The plastic is much harder and no peeling has occurred. I don't recommend this slow feeder because of the plastic. It did slow his feeding down but the bowl is rough when washing and he may be getting bits of plastic. Pay a few dollars more and get a superior product.
We went through 2 other slow feeder bowls that just weren't working for us. The first one was too tall and very light so it slid around on the rug where we feed our lil guy Slinky. The 2nd one had spirals that were too close together and Slinky had a hard time getting his food out of it. This one is just right. It's only about an inch and a half high, the compartments for lack of a better word have enough space so he can get his food yet it slows him down as we wanted. Finally, it's a bit heavier and the rubber around the edge keeps it in place on the floor. We're happy and Slinky is happy.
I bought 6 of these for my Ragdolls, thinking that I would use it on the gulpers and have some extra. Initially they kept looking at me and meowing for food while there was plenty in the bowl. Now mealtime competition is resolved. Dinner time is more relaxed and much much longer. The bowls are licked clean. This took a transition time, but now the race to finish first so I can the food on another's plate is over. Using a soft flexible brush to clean the bowls is helpful. I tried 3 other slow feeders including some made out of softer material and those are dangerous. The voracious eaters chew up the soft mats and bowls. Mealtime competition is over.
We recently adopted a doberman who was abandoned on the streets for several weeks before ending up at the shelter. Because of her rough past she inhales her food. This bowl has helped slow her down. It is large enough to hold 3 cups of dry food. The maze inside is also large enough that she can still eat without getting frustrated as some smaller bowls were doing. Definitely recommend for a large breed.
Great for small/narrow noses. I bought 2 of these; one for my GSD and one for my Great Dane. The GSD is a year old and LOVES the bowl. Just enough activity to get her to eat and stay eating. The Great Dane on the other hand… The design is raised but there isn’t a lot of room for a snoot. He just got frustrated so I changed it out. For the small nosed pup, this is awesome!
I bought this at full price because I love the pink! It has been a waste of money because the dog(s) will only eat from the edges. I bought it about six months ago but Chewy had been so good to me that I didn't want a credit or return. I've decided it's a pop of color in my dogs' feeding area. Btw, it stays empty. 🙂
I bought this slow-eating bowl for my Cane Corso because she would eat too fast and then throw up. I was worried that she wouldn't like it or would refuse to eat from it, but she's fine with this new bowl and it does slow down her inhaling her food. I recommend it for fast eaters.
This is the 2nd one of these I have purchased. It works great! Both dogs have slowed down at meal time. Definitely helps with digestion.
My dog Scooter eats like a canine vacuum cleaner. I add water to her food as she doesn’t take time to chew, she literally inhales it. She is a Chihuahua Terrier mix rescue and weighs about 12 lbs. Tonight when I used her new dish….it took her fully 10 minutes to clean up every last bite!! I was OVERJOYED!!! That’s to eat 3/4 quarters a cup of food with a 1/4 cup of water mixed in. Amazing success!!
My pup acts as if she has been starved for days when she ate less than 4 hours prior. This bowl, I have had many slow-feeders, is great way to slow her down. Its sturdy and doesn't slide around as she tries to get the kibble out.
