Great Quality Seat
We purchased this seat for our 25lb Boston Terrier. My wife has a Ford Expedition. This seat fits the space between the center console and door panel perfectly, and has enough of a base on it so that our dog can see out of the side window without struggling. It is very difficult to run the seatbelt with should strap through the seat as intended, and the seat would rest at an awkward forward tilting position when the seatbelt is used. I would recommend using a very large clothing belt or Velcro strap to go all the way around the back of the seat in order to secure it without having it sit in an awkward position. Overall this is a great quality seat for the money, and I can tell you that our dog absolutely loves going for rides in it daily.
Perfect booster seat!
Matthew - our 17 lb maltese-poodle mix - absolutely loves his new car seat (size: large). This seat is well made and comfortable for him to lay down or sit up and look out the window. Our bronco's seats are slanted and but this car seat evens out the slant and allows him to be comfortable / sturdy. The tall sides ensure he does not try to climb out and on to our laps but the lower front allows him to rest his head as he lays down. Perfect car seat and super affordable!
Nice Seat
I purchased this booster seat for my mini-daschund puppy. He doesn't seem to like to ride in the car much, but he curls up in the car seat and sleeps whenever we go anywhere. I have a Nissan Pathfinder and put the seat in the middle row and found no issues with sizing or latching the shoulder strap seat belt. The only issue I have is the tether. At first I thought it was way too long, but it is adjustable which is good. The issue with it is it appears to not be replaceable. My dog has chewed up the tether to the point it is almost useless. If he completes chewing through it I don't know what I would do to keep him in place. Keep an eye on puppies and chewers! I have reached out to Chewy as it seems to be their branding to see if there is anything I can do. I have suggested to them redesign the tether so it can be replaced. If I hear back from Chewy with a resolution I will try to update my review. Also a co-worker purchased two of these seat for her Chihuahua mixes and they like the seats too!
Great car seat!
I bought this car seat to replace one that I gave 1 star bc it only lasted 6 months of hardly any use. Anyway, I was so surprised to see how big it is. It does fit in the front passenger seat of my Ford Focus sedan, barely. But the size is so much better for my 16 lb doxiepoo. Because she's part daschund, she's got the longer body & so this large car seat gives her a lot more room than her prior car seat. I also like that it does not have the strap to wrap around the headrest. Even though the seat rests on the passenger seat rather than being suspended in air hanging by the headrest strap, she's still able to see out the window bc the cushion for the seat is raised, not flat. The car seat stays in place by the cars seatbelt that you insert & run through the bottom rear of the carseat. It's extremely stationary. And there's a strap to attach to her harness with ample length so she can move around comfortably. Altogether, this seat appears to be made well, is very roomy & having finally taken her for a ride (which is why it took so long for this review, we don't go out much) she's quite comfortable in this car seat. I'd also like to thank the Chewy customer service team for working with me on this issue. They helped me make this great choice. I do expect this car seat will hold up for quite some time & Maggie will enjoy many happy rides in comfort & safety. This appears to be the Cadillac of car seats.
Love this product!
I bought this dog car seat for my new puppy. I am beyond pleased with it so far as it keeps her safe, in one spot so she isn’t crawling on my lap and she can’t scratch anything. My biggest thing was the safety aspect as well as keeping her from scratching the doors. I would recommend getting one for sure! Not to mention the size large is very nice and spacious and she has tons of room to grow into it.
This is a great car seat
As a puppy, my dog had a car seat that hung from the headrest and attached around the seat, but it just became too small for him as he grew. I love that this one is large and spacious and attaches to the seat with the seat belt, which makes me feel like it is much more secure. The large is nice and big, with padding all around. It looks cool and has lots of great pockets for storage. Great price point, highly recommend!
Nice Overall Seat
I like this seat and am happy that the cover for the cushion is removable / washable. The seat itself is larger than expected and sits a bit askew as an over the shoulder seatbelt doesn't sit flat once it is threaded under the seat base. I think they could have planned for this a bit better as there aren't many lap belts these days, only over the shoulder.
Good but not perfect
My dog likes to sit in the seat and finds it comfy. he is a 16lb Miniature Pinscher. I clip the seat clip to his harness. However it doesn't restrict his movement much. He can still stand up and move around and even hop out of the seat. So it's a little dangerous in my opinion. Secondly, our car doesn't have a seatbelt that is a lap belt, to thread through the seat as intended. Therefore, I pull the seatbelt around the front of the seat and buckle in. Again not perfect but works more or less.I wish they'd update the design to add a seatbelt thread in the front and to make an option to harness your dog in more securly.
Great Purchase
I have two dogs under 20 lbs each. Bought one for each. These seats are great. Seatbelt loops through the back to secure to the seat. Nice supportive pad inside, I put an old towel on top for extra comfort and to keep it clean. Tether inside to attach to your dog's harness. Sides are high enough that they feel secure yet can see out. Front and side pockets are so convenient for all of their extras. I am highly satisfied with these beds, made a 9 hour trip much more pleasant.
Perfect booster seat for a small/medium dog or cat
I had previously purchased this booster for one of my dogs and liked it so much that I purchased another one to replace an older booster seat. My Maltese weighs 15 pounds and he has plenty of room. The seat has pockets that can hold food, treats, toys, etc. It is easy to secure in place with the seatbelt and has a restraining leash as well. This booster seat can double as a dog bed when on travel.
