I had such high hopes for this one! I have a pit bull about 75 lbs. I ordered the large the first time and it was too big, so I ordered the Medium, which was much better. Two big problems with this design is that 1) the leg (back) part of the harness isn't adjustable. Whatever length you get to go around the dogs legs is what you get, and for my boy, it was too big, which left the belly portion also hanging, which leads to issue number 2) Why is the placement of the "belly" strap right across the penis? I can't use this product to help him go outside to pee. Why not design this more towards the center of the body, something like a saddle? Use a T-formation across the back, sort of the way you use a "T" for the chest support? Anyway, the only practical use I can see for this contraption is for an emergency evacuation from a hiking trail or accident. Oh, also 3) the shoulder strap that is to be used to attach to the rear and front part of the harness so that you can lift your pet only has one center ring on the "front" harness, and you have to attach the other "clip" to the rear harness with either the left or right leg ring, which sends your pet severally leaning out one side. Chewey does not provide a return shipping label, so you can't return these. So, I've two of them now that are useless to me and I've spent nearly $100. Spend your money on something with a better/simpler design.
Got this for my dog that was having issues with her knee, and to have her wear it as she's prepping for surgery and now as she's post-op and going through PT. The harness design is great, padding and straps in all the right places, she seems conformable, hasn't tried taking it off once, ... except, the buckles design is bad. They keep slipping the webbing constantly. I am readjusting and re-tightening them every few hours. And the webbing is so thick (good part) that it won't fit through it again and back around through the buckle (a technique which can stop slipping in other buckles with thinner webbing) I am gonna be spending a few hours probably sewing the webbing myself or trying something else so it can stop slipping because it is a bit inconvenient to keep readjusting.
I ordered this for the front lift support only as I already had another product for rear support. The quality of this is well made. I did not have a chance to try it on my dog, though. He passed away before I had the chance. I believe this would have been a helpful tool. I would recommend this to anyone needing lift assistance for their elderly or handicapped pets.
I attempted to use this but there are so many loose straps that don't stay together when adjusted. The diagram looks like a good idea but not in practice. I ended up just buying a simple belly sling to lift his back legs instead.
This harness only came in a plain brown box, and the harness inside was in plastic zip lock type bags. No diagrams, instructions ,nothing. My dog had surgery and I definitely made a mistake getting this for her, as we can not put it on her.
There are no Stoppers clips that hold the straps once adjusted. As soon as you put it on the dog it slides right back out of place
Harness was really heavy. My dog is weak in his hips. This wasn't what he needed
This harness set is just too much. Id return it but do not know how. It is for dogs after a surgery or something. I would never put my dog in this much stuff. If she needed it I would seriously question her quality of life.
Unfortunately the frailty of my dog was such that I did not use it. The quality is high, and I'm saving it for my other senior dog.
Purchased for my 75lb dog recovering from TPLO surgery. Had the vet techs put it on him post surgery. Once you try to lift a dog in this harness all the straps come loose. Ended up having to carry the dog in our arms. If you plan to use this, fit it to your dog before you need it and sew the straps closed. They could have used higher quality buckles to avoid this problem. Wish I could return this item as it's completely useless
