I had tried another high-sided litter box recommended by Wirecutter, but it had a lower entry, which made it easier for litter to be kicked out, and it was a bit smaller. In the past I had enclosed, smaller litter boxes. This Frisco one is the best yet. I have two in gray for my cat. They are spacious and work well.
This sturdy box is great for my big cat, being wide enough as well as long enough for his fourteen pound floofy largeness to easily turn around in. Too often boxes are just not quite wide enough, even if they are long. I also love that the front entrance is wider than most. It looks better, and His Largeness is more comfortable with the extra room.
My big 18 pound senior boy is good about using his box, but lately maybe he has trouble squatting, or he's just too big to position himself right, and several times he's overshot the side of the litterbox and I didn't find it right away, because I keep the litterbox inside of a larger storage box which I've cut a door frame into. I fashioned a "spray shield" at one end of the box, but really decided to shop for a larger box. Found this Frisco 24 in with high sides. did some measuring to be sure it would fit in the cubby, and ordered yesterday, and got the order today!!! Since the new box just barely fit in the storage container, I'm keeping it that way for now, since Merlin kitty is used to that, and the smaller entry space may help keep the kickings inside. I bought three boxes, as I have health issues and can't always get out to wash and return in the same day. Here are 2 pics...the before smaller box with spray shield, and the awesome new 24" box in the storage box. Highly recommend!
Louie No Bones is around 25 lbs., and is very particular about his litter box. He's a digger-flinger if everything isn't just so. He likes the roominess of this litter box, I like the high sides and non-stick surface for easy cleaning.
We have 12 rescue-cats as our pets. They range from 16 months to 16 years. The extra-large 24-inch litterbox with high sides & low "front door" is our standard litterbox. With the low front, both kittens-in-training (sometimes we have fosters) & our geriatric cats can easily get in & out. High sides keeps most of the litter & the pee in the box. We highly recommend at least 1 litterbox this size (or larger) for each cat in the household, plus an extra litterbox for every 3-5 cats. We run 16 litterboxes for our 12 cats & this "extra-large 24-inch" is our smallest footprint litterbox.
Very pleased with the size, height, easy of cleaning, and how well my new kitten and cat have taken to this litter box. I use with the Frisco clumping litter, and it doesn't seem to be leaving much scatter. My 14 week old kitten is able to get in/out without any difficulty.
Litter boxes look good & are the right size for my 2 cats. However, the bottom, or floor of the boxes seem to "bubble up" when scooping litter. Seems like they are not very rigid, as any floor should be. Therefore, the 3 boxes I have will only get a mediocre rating of 3.
I absolutely need a high sided litter box for my male cat. I was happy to find this one. I was using large storage boxes, which worked okay, but my cats are getting older, and so am I. I live in a small house now, and the big clunky boxes were taking up too much room and were becoming harder to maintain. I bought two of these litter boxes, and they are nicer looking, take up less space, and have a dip in one end for easy access. The cats do scatter litter from that lower side, but they scatter litter no matter what box I give them, so that's no big deal.
These super size boxes are perfect for multi cat people. I had all top entry boxes but the super size Queen knocked the lid off several times upon her escape and refused to use them more than she had to. Poop inside top entry and started leaving puddles outside her favorite box so I figured she had issue with the top entry. I bought 2 of these and that completely solved the problem. No more wet feet.
I ADORE these giant Frisco litter boxes! I have a 36 inch wide closet for the litter boxes so my only option is for a longer box for my two chonky cats. Two 18x24 boxes fit perfectly. I like straight sides on litter boxes so there is a lot of “elbow room”. The sides are really high to contain everything. The boxes are sturdy, not at all flimsy and the price was excellent. I am super pleased with the Frisco 18x24 high sided box. As an aside, my cats adored the packing paper that was around the litter boxes - many hours of fun playtime!!
