I have a larger cat (12.5 pounds) and he sprays. This box is great! I am using it without the litter pan so it’s basically a huge litter box for him. I use the Frisco grass liter ( works well) Pros: + Box is super smooth inside and cleans up easy. + Large high sides keep litter and any spraying inside the box. + I’m using the box without the lid (for what it’s worth). + It’s great to have a large box option with sides. + Great for traveling as the litter stays in the box. + Really it just works well, grateful to have this option. Without this option the litter box is a hassle. This just makes it all work. + Cleaning is super easy. I was using a sterlite 116qt box that I converted into a litter box (with a liter pan inside). This is a much nicer and easier solution. Cons + Really one small gripe the front of the box edges are curved and a little harder to get the scoop into those corner. Not a big deal at all.
The plastic hinge holding the lid chipped the first day. I was annoyed. However, it’s staying on and coming off exactly when I need regardless. So meh. However, I got this for my arthritic ragamuffin. She needed plenty of room and she would dig and use the loo over the edge, ultimately leaving it on the floor each time. With the high walls and wide space, everything’s good except for the bit of litter that falls through the opening. Which, to be fair, I expected given her bathroom habits. My new kitten is in her rambunctious stage, and her and my older gal doesn’t get on too well. They’re still learning one another. Always used separate litter boxes. This thing is so luxurious and spacious the kitten has up and quit hers, and now using this one as well. There been no other change in behavior, they’re getting on just as they were beforehand. I’m thinking about getting another, honestly, since I have a third one on the way. I use this without the tray and just ditch the litter right in. Pull over to the couch and scoop and it’s nice and easy on me as well, given the handle placement. 10/10. Would recommend and buy again.
I love this litter bin, I have two now. I got both of them because of urine outside of the box all the time, wrecking the floor. First time was for a male who likes to raise his butt when he pees up the wall behind the regular box and the second was for a female who always did at the edge of the box and ends up peeing outside of the box. All the cats love the bin, and now I have clean floors and walls! The male does not like the top on so I just leave of the top and he's fine, but the other box is still covered and sage likes it that way. These are in different areas because the female is my daughter's cat ( she has a male as well) so they are kept separate. I highly recommend the bin. I did not get the box to go inside, that's just a hassle, it's much easier to just use it as one big litter box, and the covered one they like to sit in to of as well.
The dimensions of the cabinet are just right for the alcove I place the litter box. The plastic isn't too heavy but not flimsy. Easy to maneuver and clean. However, the inside litter box sides are too low. My cats were peeing outside of it. I found a litterbox at the local pet supply store with higher side. I cut one side down so it doesn't block the entrance. Problem solved.
The best litter box if you have the room. Raising the lid for scooping is easy. Four stars because I can’t figure out how to clean it out. A small shovel to remove the old litter and paper towels and spray cleaner to freshen maybe. It’s too big for the bathtub though a shower would do it some good. The surfaces are slick so cleaning is easy. LilyCat likes all the extra room and privacy it gives her. Her food dish is on to. She has two water dishes but prefers the dripping tub faucet no matter wet her head gets.
My cat is elderly and started missing when she uses her litter box. She'll go half in the box and all over the floor, so we wanted a better way to contain her urine. I hoped the Multi-Function Covered Cat Litter Box would solve our issues. I line the bottom and walls with puppy pads and put the litter box in. It's working perfectly. She still misses, but I can quickly swap out a pad and disinfect the surfaces and not have urine all over the cement floors.
I have 2 of these litter boxes without the tray as one of my cats is taller/larger (not Maine Coon huge though) and an elevator butt pee-er. The litter box is quite roomy length wise and tall enough to contain his pee, however like some other reviews mentioned, I'd prefer the box without the handles (just to ensure no pee gets out!) and wish it was a bit more square like in shape so my taller cat could move around just that much better. Still would recommend if you also have a taller/larger cat who elevator butt pees!
I searched and I really searched! I am retired so I had the time to look at everything available EVERYWHERE! This box is perfect for a large Maine Coon cat. Everything about it is solid. The price was so low and free shipping, that I wondered if it was going to be junk. It wasn't! I am now a Chewie loyalist. This box will last a long time.
This is our third litter box since we got our 2 kittens in January. The first was too small & open, the second was larger & too enclosed. This one is much more spacious & the perfect fit for our longer, lanky cat that was feeling too cramped in the last large little box. They both love it & even hang out on top of it. It's really easy to open up to clean & scoop. I'm very happy that we finally found our perfect litter box that makes everyone happy!
I bought this enclosure to use as a litter box for my three big girls. We are using it with the litter directly in the bottom and the ladies love it! They have plenty of room to move and maneuver around to do their business. I’ll definitely buy one of these enclosures again when it’s time to replace this one.
