What are the dimensions? I would like a self cleaning slicker brush for my cat.
Answer by ChewyJun 17, 2020
The Small is approximately 7.4 inches long by 3 inches wide. The Large is approximately 8.3 inches long by 4.25 inches wide.

How do you operate the self-cleaning feature? Is there a button to push?
Answer by ChewyJun 07, 2020
When the slicker brush is full of hair, just press the button on the back and watch the fur be pushed out of the pins.

will this work for a german shepherd
Answer by ChewyFeb 27, 2022
This brush is suitable for medium length fur. Brush dog's coat in small, swift motions following the direction of their hair root to tip. Transition into longer strokes once you are sure that all tangles are gone.

Don't waste your time

I just received the brush today and it's already broken. When I pressed the button on the back to release the hair, it bent some of the metal brush spikes and now it won't retract all the way. Out of the three brushes I've bought, this is the worst one.

Simple and effective

Overall, a great product. The spines are kind of delicate and prone to bending if not taken care of. Due to the spacing of the spines, it doesn’t remove as much hair as I had imagined per stroke, but it is still effective. The cleaning function is great, it pushes all the hair to the tips of the spines and you just carefully pull the single chunk off.

Frisco Self-Cleaning Slicker Dog Brush Frisco Self-Cleaning Slicker Dog Brush

This brush is aweful! When we try to brush our chocolate lab the hair just sticks to brush. The idea is the brush the dog push a button and the hair comes to the end of brush so you can just swipe it off. It doesn’t do any of the just sticks to brush.

Prickly, just okay

The tips are not coated, so it can be a little rough. The self-cleaning aspect is not really that functional. The comb doesn't fully retract. It's an economical price for a reason.

Works pretty well

Overall, it works pretty well. One thing I don't like is that when you push the button to clean it out, the stainless steel pins still stick out a little, making it difficult to get all the hair out without scratching your hand. A previous brush that we had that was similar made it so when you pushed the button all the stainless steel pins were flush with the plastic part so it was really easy to dispose of the hair.

Not a smooth operator...

It was an economical price for a self cleaning brush. And for that, it's not the best experience. Brushing was as expected but THAT release button is evil. It's stiff and the plate does not rise evenly to push the caught hair above the pins. After each frustrating press, I have to manually lift the plate higher on both sides to push the hair high enough to carefully peel them off in a bundle. Sigh...

I love this product

The stainless steel bristles stay intact when I brush my Spaniel. Dog likes this brush .The ability to push a button and remove the hair easily is a great feature. Thank you.

OUCH! This brush has harsh points.

Very disappointed with this brush. Wire tips are not coated as previous brushes have been. This should have been noted in product description. My adult cat who usually purrs while being brushed couldn't get away fast enough.

Takes a lot of floof out!

The Frisco Slicker Brush gets a lot of my long coat German Shepherd’s fluffy floof out. The brush head is larger than other slicker brushes so less brushing is needed to groom his whole body, he loves getting his belly brushed w/ it!

Not a functional brush

We have used slicker brushes for years. They work well and the dogs enjoy the feel. We've had good experiences with Frisco products in the past, but this brush just does not work properly. The bristles do not retract fully into the plate, leaving about 1/8" still extended. As such it is nearly impossible to remove fine coat hairs entirely. The push button actuator is also located in a position my wife cannot reach with one hand. We will go back to our old brand (Safari).
