One of the best purchases of my life
My dogs normally don't really like water. Bath time is a horror. But my oldest dog, Mipha, is absolutely obsessed with balls. So my wife and I took her to a pool to play ball, and she did great in the shallow end. But I was nervous about her going in the deep end, which is what prompted me to buy this life jacket. This life jacket is awesome. Mipha can now run and dive just like a dock jumping champ, and when she hits the water she sometimes doesn't even go under, and when her head does go under, it's back up in a fraction of a second. She's a mini dachshund/corgi mix, around 16 pounds, and the small fits her great. It's so adorable watching her little shark fin bobbing on the water as she paddles around with a ball in her mouth. We're not super outdoorsy people, so this is a great way to give our dog more exercise while also getting my wife and I to exercise in the pool with her. And it's great peace of mind knowing she doesn't have to just rely completely on her tiny little dachshund/corgi marshmallow paws to stay afloat, since this life jacket does a great job supporting her. I honestly think this is one of the best purchases I've ever made, just for the sheer joy of playing together and knowing she's safe. One word of caution if you want to play with your dog in a pool like we do: limit pool time to short bursts if you can. After an hour or so, Mipha's nails got pretty soft from the water and she eventually ground them down on the concrete around the pool and made her quick bleed. So we're being careful to only let her play for 15-30 minutes at a time, then take a rest to let her nails dry out.
It's so cute
If your dog has a big neck and chest, make sure you're getting the right size. My dog is a little bigger than his breed normally is but the life jacket still fit thank goodness. It's so cute. Really well made. He couldn't slip out of it and it isn't too bulky. I love the clasps and that there are two under the chest, it kept the vest snug on his body. It made swimming a lot easier for him, he's a beginner so it's nice to have something to make sure that even if he panics it won't slip off of him and it keeps him safe. If your dog claws at people when swimming the handle on the top is perfect to get ahold without worrying about your dog scratching you up to get to you.
Shark life jacket
This little guy (Rico) loves to fetch and swim. He’s obsessed with getting to the beach and getting right into the water to fetch sticks, toys or whatever we have! For reference he’s a 2 1/2 yr old Morkie, 9 lbs. This is his 3rd season with this life jacket - he was about 6 lbs the first summer he wore it - it’s fit perfect from 6-9lbs. It says it will fit from 5-15lbs, I’m not sure about 15, maybe 12 or so. It’s very secure - heavy duty, wraps all the way around the stomach and Velcro’s. It also has a piece under the neck to hold his chin up if needed. In the description for this life jacket it says it’s for a beginner, less experienced swimmer. There are less restrictive, not as heavy duty life jackets available. Rico is a good swimmer, he’s just obsessive and wants to keep going, I worry about him getting too tired, but this gives me piece of mind. The kids love the shark fin, its pretty funny! The fin has Velcro, so it can be removed. I just bought this vest again so he could have one to swim in and a dry one when boating after he swims. He gets cold when we’re under way in the boat - it doesn’t dry that quickly as it wraps all the way around his body. Also, I can’t express enough how awesome Chewy’s customer service agents are, I spoke with 2 different reps after I placed this last order and they were both fantastic and so helpful!!
Works good!
The size I ordered (Large) was a bit tight on my golden retriever, I think an XL would fit her perfectly. It works okay but if you use it on the beach sand will be difficult to wash.
perfect and cute
We ordered this for our Havanese who’s measurements were between sizes (xsmall chest, small neck) and it was perfect. Definitely recommend sizing by chest, the neck is adjustable enough to make it work. Have not yet tested in the water but will!
Bounced Up Like a Buoy
Had both my dogs wearing their life jackets at the lake. It fit well (both size Large) and when one of them slipped off the paddle board he briefly went under water and bounced back up with comical speed. They also got lots of compliments!
Too Big
My dog (65 lb Pitbull) fit in the XL size category but it ended up being a little too big when she tried it on. Just ordered the Large and I feel strongly it will fit perfectly. Delivery from Chewy is always 1-2 days, which is amazing!! Customer service is also amazing, I will order from Chewy again and again in the future!
Ruby Shark Doo Doo Doo
At first Ruby wouldn’t move in this (like her harness) and wouldn’t move her back feet when she swam. After a couple times she got used to having it on and now it’s perfect for the boat. She can move freely in it and the handle is perfect for holding her in place while we’re driving and lifting her onto the diving platform.

My dog loves the water until it gets up past her belly. This jacket has given her confidence, and she’s actually started to swim rather than just splash! Also it’s adorable.

This doggie life jacket is just what I was looking for! Cute, functional, and affordable. I’m glad I measured my dog before ordering as it does run smaller than most items. My 35 pound cattle dog was a large when usually she’s a medium in everything else. The large fits perfectly!
