I bought this black Friday 2022. Yes bedding falls out the front when you open the doors. It does on the critter nation cages too even after adding the extra guards. Downside: arrived slightly damaged but was easily able to bend the few wires back in place. It's super heavy so not surprised as my uses worker delivers alone. My rats love digging the bedding off the pan and chewing up the pan corners. I've gone through 1 pan a month . Pros. Folds in shape and can put together in under 15 mins. I have moved a bunch and this cage is way way faster to take apart and put together. Wires are spaced right that you can use it as a nice parakeet cage. If you need to separate the levels take one of the ramps and slide it between the pan and the wire with the "hook" pointing up.
First i want to say i understand why a lot of people say it came damaged. it is over 100lbs. the fedex drivers had to use a dolly and lets just be honest fedex isnt always the most careful with packages. luckily i live about 2 hours from where chewy ships their stuff from. so it was only on the truck for a few hours. the outside of my package was a little rough. you could tell they rolled it a lot of the way. but again 100lb package. i had to do the same. building it was so easy compared to most cages. i would recommend two people if you can manage. one bad thing i will say about it is the screws didnt go in all the way on quite a few of the screw holes and after breaking one i wasnt going to try to force anything else. after 30 minutes the cage was fully built and ready for my ratties. it is quite heavy even on wheels but moves fairly well even on carpet. overall very happy with it and would recommend. just wish chewy didnt have to go through fedex mainly.
Used cage and only a $30 refund. Metal was bent and all scratched up. Whoever returned it managed to scratch the entire cage on all sides from top to bottom, the damage is so bad. Unfortunately we just got chinchillas and no other cage and had no other option to return without the girls going without a cage for a week and that's not going to work.
This cage has so many crevices that bedding and urine get stuck in you basically have to take the whole thing apart to clean it properly. The double doors seem helpful but since you can't just sweep everything out (it would go right into the gaps) they just end up making it hard to prevent escapes when the cage is open.
I have used Chewy for years and never had any issues. Upon arriving, the box was visibly damaged (I had to throw it away). As we began to pull out the parts- we noticed the zip ties were all cut which indicates it was already returned and refurbished. Most of the metal plates were damaged and bent. The second level was so badly bent we could not properly for the ceiling crate on. This was so heavy I had to have three people help me to carry and install. When emailing chewy the pictures- they said to return it in the box. Unfortunately with it being so heavy, the box severely damaged and the time to then dismantle was more of a burden so it was easier to wheel out to the dumpster and take a loss. Not happy.
This cage was a breeze to put together which was very welcomed. The quality is better than I expected. I actually would give it more than five stars, but the only issue I have found is that when you open the front doors the bedding falls out. I just added two urine guards to the front. As long as you can deal with that.
I love the double doors on this cage. It's super sturdy and easy to put together. Its got wheels so I can move it easily and it's super easy to clean and get into. My five rats love running up and down on this cage. Only downside is that bedding falls out the front pretty often since there's no barrier when you open it. Personally I'd recommend they have the guard stay behind when the door opens so that way it actually holds bedding. That being said vacuuming the floor is way easier than trying to get inside my last cage. Also love the storage underneath. (It's really heavy duty so just be aware the box is heavy!!!)
It wasn’t to difficult to put together I did have to get a little help but not too bad. I did have to fix one of the hinges a little bit and the cage was kinda scratched up and a few bars were bent. The screws don’t go all the way in and it is a little wobbly. The only thing holding the top and bottom together is the middle mesh bit so you can’t take the middle bit out without making the cage more unstable. Honestly it’s worth it to spend the extra 20 or so dollars on a critter nation, wish I would’ve.
Could not decide between two or three stars. I bought the two level cage. Pros It was bigger than I thought. Easy to put together. Cons When pulling out of packaging felt like little sand pieces falling out the frame. The screw holes don't keep the sides pieces form moving back and forth. The screw slots are not small enough to catch the head of the screws. The shelves don't feel very secure. They are just hooked into two slots One of the doors are not level with the other door.
I recieved this cage yesterday. Today as I was taking it out of the box to put it together I seen it was damaged. Now I gotta wait for fedex to come pick it up before I can get sent a new one.
