Nobody likes to have their food swiped, and that also goes for your feathered friends. Squirrels tend to want a taste, as well, so help prevent that with this squirrel defense feeder. This feeder features a spring-loaded, push-button cap that allows for easy filling of delicious treats, ideally with larger sized mixed seed or sunflower seed. Small seed is not recommended. If any squirrel hops on to help himself, the integrated spring loader will cause their weight to slide a cage down, blocking the port doors from access. Not only is this feeder cage great against squirrelly thieves, but it has four ports in total, each with its own perch to attract as many birds as possible. Keep your feathered friends happy by keeping their tasty snacks safe from unwanted guests.

Dirty bird feeders spread disease. We recommend cleaning your feeders weekly, or monthly at a minimum. Clean your feeders outdoors with a large bucket, and always wear gloves when cleaning. Soak your feeder in a 9:1 solution of water and bleach for 15 minutes. Then use a bird feeder brush to scrub the feeder with dish soap and water. Refill when completely dry.
The key to keeping a feeder successfully squirrel-proofed is the placement. Place a bird feeder 4 feet from the ground and 8 feet from anything a squirrel can jump from. When hanging from a pole by a hook, it is recommended that the hook have at least a 16” distance from the pole. Placing a baffle on the pole or having a caged feeder will also help to ensure squirrel-proof success.

I got this feeder as squirrels were decimating all my feeders including my finch feeders. I had seen the much more expensive squirrel proof as advertised but never tried one. The feeder is a quality build, and easy to clean. Worked amazingly well at first, but after a few weeks, the squirrels learned to avoid the spring-loaded perches and instead simply hang down from the top of the feeder upside down gripping the cord you use to hang it with their back feet, and stuff their face with their front hands out of the feeder holes. Wasn't worth the price for keeping squirrels out but is built well so if it lasts more than a couple of seasons I won't feel so bad about the price.
Birds are again able to eat black sunflower seeds before the squirrels eat them all up. Haven’t seen a squirrel even attempt to get in. Great purchase for a great price. I wish I had found this earlier before I spent so much on feeding the squirrels.
I've had this bird feeder hanging out for 10 days now and the squirrels, who have defeated other feeders can not get to the sunflower seeds in this model. They have to settle for what we leave on the ground and the birds are helping themselves uninterrupted. Finally a feeder that is working.
We like the feeder as do the birds, BUT the squirrels do sometimes pop the lid. I give it 4 stars rather than 3 because it's pretty amusing to see a squirrel with it's head and shoulders in the feeder after popping the lid! Fortunately, the design doesn't let th clever creatures get too far down in the feeder; thus they can't empty all the food.
I absolutely love this feeder! love that it is a glass tube and protected by the wire cage (the prevent breaking). I only wish it had a medium sized tray at the bottom to collect the feed that the birds drop. I will be adding a shade cover on top to provide some shade for my feathered visitors. My cat, Leo loves to watch them by the window.
We ordered one to test out and just ordered a second one today. This works like a charm against our squirrels. They are completely unable to figure out how to get into this. They tried non stop for days and then finally gave up and resigned to eating what the birds drop. I know there are some mixed reviews so maybe we just have really dumb squirrels but it works for us!!
really like it and it does keep squirrels away, but the 1st day I got it the top ?broke cuz it wouldn't close, kept popping up so I have to hold it closed with duct tape
I got this to try to stump the squirrels who, when met with the overhead dome I'd originally gotten to save the feed, knocked over the pole and made the dome disappear (really, never found it in my yard!). The birds love this feeder for sure, but the first time I moved it was because the squirrels figured out that a long as they are stretching and holding onto the pole or something else, they can treat this feeder as a buffet. So I moved it so there wasn't a place to do that. So I thought. Now they just hang from above. As long as they don't touch the perches, they have access to the food. I think I need dumber squirrels.
Feeder is difficult to fill and the squirrels can get into it and feed, smh
This feeder is perfect. We had ordered one earlier we were not happy with and neither were the birds but this one the birds love!
