Frisco Steel 8-Panel Configurable Dog Gate & Playpen

Perfect!

This pen is great! Just the right size for a 26” x 32” bed, play space and 23” x 23” pee pad; good quality; easy to put together; easy to adjust and customize the shape; and many thoughtful touches. For example, the door opens in either direction, has stops you can deploy to prevent it from opening in a particular direction, lightly springs shut when you release it, and has a detent in the far open position so you can easily leave it open when you want. Fantastic find, just what we were looking for to contain our new puppy.

Best pen

This playpen is amazing. It easily converts from a pen to a fence. You can take out panels to make it smaller. The gate opens easily with one hand and swings closed by itself, snapping into place. it is excellent all around. Also it’s very sturdy and not super heavy. It folds accordion-style easily for storage or to take with you. I’ve taken it in the back of my RDX several times and it travels easily. To set it up again you just unfold and tighten the corners. you can create an octagon or square or any shape. I highly recommend this.

We have many gate/fence brands in the family for the pups. Love this one! We have been usung it for two years now. The number of panels for the price is great. The gate is very simple and swings both directions while closing behind you. The downside is not being able to order an extra gate so when we split it to cover two different areas we are stuck sliding one back and forth to enter/exit. All pieces lock together with no issue. Not sure why some complain it is loose. It is only as tight as you make it!

Great Xmas Tree Jail!

My pup gets into everything. It was two ornaments on, one off (by Sophie the naughty pup). Chewy provided the quickly arriving solution! It will be reused as a pen when the tree comes down. Love the door access so my grandkids can help set up the village without Sophie’s “help.”

surprisingly sturdy

Pros: sturdy, configurable, secure gate, dog cannot climb out Cons: heavy, adjusting configuration isn’t very intuitive This has been an excellent playpen. It is surprisingly sturdy and heavy, which is a pro and a con. It generally stays in place even when my 22lb puppy jumps up on it to try and greet people outside of her space. She hasn’t been able to climb it because of the vertical slats, and the gate is very convenient and secure. We have used it as a standalone pen and zip tied to the crate. Both worked great. It takes a moment to familiarize yourself with how to adjust the gate, but once you’ve got it town it’s simple to set up. We bought a second one because we were so impressed with the first!

Sturdy and flexible freestanding gate

My dog is having leg surgery and can’t go up or down stairs for months. We needed a flexible gate that could block the stairs in our split level, and shift easily to the other side to block the dogs from the front door when needed to allow for visitors, while still keeping the dog(s) away from the stairs. It also has a very easy to use self-closing gate. Great product!

Very configurable and easy to set up

The gate/pen is easy to set up and use in different ways. We have two, one as a play pen and the other as a free standing gate for our wide kitchen doorway. It seems solid and well made. Only down side is the gate latch is a bit difficult to open especially if you only have one hand free or have arthritis in you hands.

Falls Apart

I’m not sure how this gate got so many 5 star reviews. The gate literally falls apart! I’ve screwed it back together over and over, and it still falls apart. If it were being attached to the wall and not being folded and unfolded, it might not fall apart, but I got this gate to make a temporary play yard for our puppy and then put it away when not needed. When doing this, it literally falls apart at EVERY joint almost every time we get it out. It is really a pain and makes this gate not practical for what I bought it for!

Gate/Fence Surpassed Expectations.

Purchased it to use around a wood stove to prevent a blind dog from hurting himself. It was easy to remove a panel to make a "corral" around the stove, and tightened easily so it wouldn't move inwards. The gate is big enough to access the door on the stove. Metal seems heavy duty, not flimsy at all. Very happy with it. Thank you Chewy for helping us keep our doggo safe!

Long, Affordable, and Effective

Most gates of this length cost triple and have the same effectiveness. I have the fence freestanding to block my pup in the kitchen (as needed). He’s only 8 pounds, so he can’t knock the gate over. Which means I don’t have to bolt it into the wall and can move it around as necessary.
