We bought this for our new puppy so he could have a safe space to be left alone if we could not supervise him directly. It is great for that purpose, and is very easy to set up and reconfigure the shape. As others have said, the ends of the vertical bars are a little sharp and will snag on clothes or carpets and would probably scratch hard floors. We set ours up so that our puppy has access to his crate from inside the pen (by attaching the pen directly to the crate) which has worked really well but revealed one drawback: there is no way to reconfigure the gate. It is set in one specific panel and there’s no way to make it swing in the opposite direction. If you were to lay the pen out flat on the floor, the gate is on the far right panel. So in order for us to have his crate/pen where we want them, we had to set it up so that the gate swings inward which is not working out very well. So we’ll have to get creative and move things around.
The size and price of this play pen is good. It's not expensive as a good starter. Although because of this, don't expect the stableness and quality of the pen. For my 4 pounds puppy, it fit well for him. Will wait to see, once the puppy gaining weight, how does the create will handle. Rating it as 4 stars, as the connections of the pen at the door is very sharp. Be aware don't scratch your hands or the puppy's belly. To better have it on the hardwood floor, it's better to place a mat or carpet underneath it.
This playpen is absolutely NOT safe for puppies. We have a boxer puppy. We have tried this playpen for her twice. NEVER again will we put her in it. Both times her paw has gotten STUCK in it. We cane home last night and her paw was so swollen at least twice the size and cut from her trying to pull it out. It continues to get stuck where you close the walls together. We have followed the directions to a T and it doesn't matter.
I bought the 36"h pen for my rabbit, Buster, for outside playtime and to obtain some necessary UV from the sun. As you can tell, he LOVES it!! It's sturdy, well made, and so easy to set up and fold back down to store out of the rain. I'll be ordering another one to connect the two, so he'll have more room to binky and run now that I know how awesome this works for him.
These have worked perfectly to keep my very nosey 60 lb pup from being where he's not supposed to be. They can be fastened together, anchored in the ground, or secured to more stable objects so that adventurous pups who might challenge the fence are met with more resistance than a less sturdy barrier. The metal wires are strong and solid. I've had the first set outside for a year- zero rust. Liked them so much I got more to keep Mr. Nosey Mischief out of the garden. If you are like me - an old lady with no help - the fence panels allow for an almost "sculpting" feature for your configuration as opposed to having to have all of the heavy materials , and the strength of a 20 year old Navy Seal to put it up. I love these fences!
Our small dog is very determined but has not found a way over or out of this playpen. It is well made and easy to configure into different shapes. Hope it will do well for outside use when the weather permits. Happy with the quality of the purchase and a good value.
This is a good size pen and is sturdy for a litter of 8lb puppies. My only complaint is all the sharp burrs at the end of each wire. Every shirt I own is now snagged.
Bought the 30 inch for a 34 pound Boston Terrier in order to pen him in post knee surgery. It is sturdy and can change shape for whatever space you need it for.
I purchased two of these for an indoor and outdoor pen for my new puppy. The indoor pin allows her to stay by the activity of the living room and the outdoor pan gives her a safe place to play in our unfenced yard. It gives me a break from having to supervise her 24-7. These pens are a great value, easy to install, and serve a great purpose.
We bought this pen to use while on a driving vacation with our small dog. It worked great, easy to fold and unfold and pack. Kept her safe and secure in hotel rooms and homes we visited. I would give it 5 starts, the only potential issue is that the bottom where the vertical wires are attached could potentially scratch a floor. We only used it in carpeted areas.
