Big but does the trick
We have two of these pens, one for our living room and one for the bedroom. They seem fairly sturdy; our small puppy isn't able to move the panels much when they're on a mat, and they never fall over or anything like that. My one complaint is that it comes in 8 panels with no option to remove a panel, so it can be really big if you have a small space. I think you could maybe pry apart the joints to remove a panel but I haven't tried that yet. It is however fairly easy to fold over a couple of panels to make the pen smaller, and they seem to stay in place fairly well (you could probably zip-tie them to make it more secure, or use the clips that attach the pen to clip an extra panel in). It's not the easiest thing to move, but also not impossible. (We did end up buying a second because it was a hassle to move every morning and night, but it might be easier in a larger space - we have a small apartment). I think you could take it on a trip as long as you have a car with a large enough trunk.
Peace with Guests!
Why did we wait so long to get smart?! We have a quite-affectionate 4 yo Golden Retriever, and a 5 yo lovable mega-barker of a Bully. All is well until friends come in, and whether they’re scared of the barker or just not a fan of constantly petting our Golden, it’s tense. Awful. So we placed the wire pen around the fireplace, with their beds inside, and the dogs are still part of the action, but not a problem whatsoever. It is flexible, so easy to shape just how we want it; super easy to latch and unlatch; and the perfect height. The dogs do not jump on it, since they can see what’s going on, and feel they are still a part of the family. They usually lay down and watch. Our only question: why did we take years to figure out this easy solution to dogs and company?
Dog pen for camping
Bought this dog pen for when we go camping with our dogs. We bought 2 for more room as we have 5 dogs. Get to camp site open up pen connect together, then let the dogs out! It works perfect for smaller dogs. We got the 2’ tall. Our largest dogs are Cockers. It puts tougher quickly. We could never leave the dogs alone & expect them to stay in pen, but it keeps them from running off or having to be on a leash all the time. We just block off under the van with the plastic fencing then attach to pen. Plenty of room for us & the fur babies. Plus they can go in & out of the van.
I bought this pen in the 30 inch size to contain one or two GSD puppies currently less than 20 pounds. I use it outside when I am working within line of sight but can’t keep both eyes on them. While it would only be an ‘exercise’ pen for a baby bunny, it does serve the purpose of keeping the pups outside enjoying the summer weather in a temporary enclosure while they perfect their housetraining skills. I would NOT recommend it as a long term enclosure - it is too flimsy - but it worked well for what I had in mind.
Curved Panels, Scratched Floors, and Snagged Clothing
I purchased the 36” as a temporary enclosure for a newly adopted rabbit until I can bond her with my other rabbit. I can’t say I’m very happy with this purchase. It’s pretty flimsy. All of the panels are curved and I can’t straighten them. I purchased PVC pipe to make a frame at the base of the pen and used zip ties to secure the pen to the PVC frame, but it’s still all wonky and unsightly. Plus, it’s scratched my floor during setup and it’s snagged my clothing as well as the reusable pee pads I set it on. I’m trying to talk myself into keeping it rather than deal with the hassle of sending it back.
Can be used for so many things
I have bought so many of these because they are absolute lifesavers. They are easily stored and easily configured — you don’t have to make a circle with them but can attach them end to end and zig zag them to stand up in a straight line. I keep several on hand in my house and my summer place to use to create barriers when needed. I have used them in the house to separate new puppies from nervous adults, or guests’ dogs from my dogs. I have used them to erect a temporary fence around my garden pond when it’s so hot my dogs decide to go swimming with my goldfish. I have ten of them stored at my summer home to create a temporary dog yard that is easily removed when unneeded. I don’t even stake it down for that. (A large aggressive dog might tip it over but I have an English Cocker and a Springer Spaniel and it keeps them in.) They are sturdy and amazingly versatile and I recommend them highly.
This works for me and my fur baby, however he can easily push the panels, so I have to prop something at the "join" places so he cannot. I wanted to give my fur baby as much play area as possible and may have to reconfigure when I am leaving him alone giving him a much smaller play area. Overall I am satisfied with this product. I plan on setting this up in my yard those times when I have to spend a lot of time working in my yard.
We wanted to have a lightweight yard to use with our RV. We bought 2, so we can connect the two with pass gates at each end. The panels fit right behind the steps , so the steps go into the yard. Now Daisy can go out at her liesure!!!
Did not work for my very athletic puppy
I got the 36 inch size for my 8 week old pitbull puppy. She's so athletic she was able to climb out of this easily. I only used it to corral her whenever I needed a 10-15 minutes break (while still at home) .Thankfully she does not try to jump into it so I keep valuables inside it now with the gate shut tada it's got an unintended use :-)
Bigger than expected
I was looking for an exercise pen to put in my studio so I don't need to watch my puppy the whole time. This just arrived and it's bigger than expected. I definitely didn't need one this big, but that's fine. Some of the metal panels are a little warped, which could be an issue for some people. I have yet to put it together, but all the pieces are intact and seem accounted for.
