Important Information

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's coat as they die, so consider it a triumph if you start seeing more fleas at first, after treating your pet. If you’re still seeing fleas after application, it may be because your pet has picked up new fleas from the environment, which may include other pets, surfaces and outdoor areas. It may take up to 30 days to break the entire flea life cycle. Additionally, you should also treat sources of new fleas (i.e., carpet, yard, etc.) to ensure complete flea control.

does frontline have to be put right on the skin?
Answer by ChewyOct 26, 2018
This product does need to be applied directly into the skin to be absorbed.

Do the fleas have to walk across the treatment for it to work?
Answer by ChewyOct 17, 2018
FRONTLINE Gold has 3 secret weapons: fipronil, to take out adult fleas and ticks and (S)-methoprene and pyriproxyfen to kill the next generation of flea eggs and larvae before they can develop into adult fleas. Once FRONTLINE Gold is applied, fipronil stores itself in the oil glands in your pet's skin. It then works continuously for 1 month as it is released from the hair follicles onto the skin and coat.

Is frontline gold safe for pregnant cats
Answer by ChewyJan 02, 2019

Haven't tried but want to share info

For those in the comments saying after 2 months the product still wasn't working for their furr babies. It takes up to 3 months to see results just as some medication for us humans. I had a flea infestation from a customer when I worked in pet retail. It took me 3 months of using a new product to fully see results. It was terrible watching my babies itch and scratch until every fle died but once it hit the 3 month time frame I checked and all the fleas were dead so I bathed them a week after the 3rd treatment and anything that was there came off (dead fleas) both my babies have been flea free since. I am now about to change products again because I noticed my babies get itchy after applying the product I've been using (sentry) I'm considering this or something else I find that covers ticks too because one cat goes out with me on a harness and I don't want to chance anything. Hope this helps some of the people out there questioning why after 2 months they still may have fleas. If the product doesn't seem to help after 3 months it means that's not the right one for them you can either see your vet to get one specifically for their needs ooor try another. My top 3 recommended products are sentry(low cost), advantage, or Frontline (last 2 are most popular) otherwise the vet versions like revolution are great but they also work for heartworm usually so you need to verify if your cat has them or not. If they do they get a treatment plus revolution if not they get prevention of the heartworm + flea and tick + ect.

FLEA control

Ok of all the non prescription ones I've tried. (Why DOES IT NEED TO BE A PRESCRIPTION?) This is the least messy and fastest to apply. I have 2 cats, My male who is 10 is usually not a problem he just doest like being restrained. My female who is 11 is polar opposite. I have to have the tube open and ready at all times so that if she does walk past me I can grab her. This is a 2 week project at minimum. But I love how it isn't greasy.

Disappointment

Applied this product 2 months in a row and my cat never stopped scratching and biting. Nine days after 2nd application, I used a flea comb and found multiple fleas. In desperation, I gave my cat a bath with dawn and he quit scratching for a couple days. Two weeks later, fleas are happily living on my cat. He did not have flea dirt after the bath, but now he does which means the fleas are feeding on him, plus, I found eggs that fell off of him. This product did not kill the fleas nor prevent their return after the bath. I wasted money, my flea problem is worse, and my cat is still miserable. What a nightmare.

No dead fleas

I have two indoor cats. First time in five years that they’ve had fleas I applied this to both cats, not only did not work, but they seem to have more fleas than before. A total waste of money.

They musta changed the Formula

We've been using this stuff for years with no problem. We gave our new Purr Babies this stuff for 2 Months & they still have Fleas. And YES, we put stuff in the Dryer, we Washed everything, Vacuumed & Mopped Flooring. So we know e did everything right. Will not be buying this Product again

Been using for years, WORKS

I've used Frontline for years on my dogs. I recently had to take on a feral cat who had fleas BAD. It's been almost 4 months now & they've been completely gone since month 2. The vet said it typically takes about 3 months to fully clear up a flea problem, so keep that in mind.

Frontline

Frontline is easy to apply and has no noticeable odor. Works well especially on cats that spend time outside.
