Description

Frontline Gold for Dogs doesn’t just kill adult fleas and ticks, but also slays the next generation of flea eggs and larvae. Even faster than Frontline Plus, Frontline Gold starts working within 30 minutes and lasts for 30 days! It works because of two, tough killing ingredients. The first, fipronil, kills adult fleas and ticks. The second, (S)-methoprene, attacks flea eggs and larvae. They work together to kill all month long. Plus, it breaks the flea life cycle. By also destroying the next generation of flea eggs and larvae, Frontline Gold gives you the power to help prevent a flea infestation on your pet. Frontline products are highly recommended by veterinarians for flea and tick control for dogs.

Key Benefits
  • Provides fast-acting, long-lasting treatment and control from the makers of Frontline Plus.
  • Kills adult fleas, ticks, chewing lice, mites, and flea eggs and larvae that may transmit Lyme disease.
  • Safe for use on dogs and puppies 8 weeks or older between 45-99 pounds.
  • Kills flea eggs and larvae to stop existing infestations and prevent the establishment of new infestations.
  • Easy to apply and waterproof 24 hours after application.

Important Information

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's coat as they die, so consider it a triumph if you start seeing more fleas at first, after treating your pet. If you’re still seeing fleas after application, it may be because your pet has picked up new fleas from the environment, which may include other pets, surfaces and outdoor areas. It may take up to 30 days to break the entire flea life cycle. Additionally, you should also treat sources of new fleas (i.e., carpet, yard, etc.) to ensure complete flea control.

FAQ

Where is this product sourced from?

We source all our products from manufacturer approved distributors or directly from the manufacturers. Chewy takes pride in ensuring that our furry friends’ wellbeing is always our top priority. We have worked hard to partner with all of the manufactures to deliver 100% authentic products

Where do these new fleas come from?

Numerous hosts (including feral cats, opossums, raccoons, and other wildlife species) leave behind flea eggs wherever they go, including your yard. These outdoor flea infestations are often the primary source of the fleas that your pets pick up. Outdoors, developing flea stages can be found in areas protected from sunlight, so some of their favorite places include:

  • Sheds
  • Garages
  • Under porches or decks

How long will a flea infestation in the home last?

Flea eggs, larvae, and pupae in the environment continue to develop and emerge as new fleas (even after your pet has been treated with a flea control product). It can take weeks to months for this already established infestation to be controlled.

What else can I do to reduce the flea population in my home?

Regular use of an appropriate Frontline Gold brand product on your pet may reduce flea infestations in the home. For best results, use Frontline Gold brand products as part of a comprehensive flea treatment plan, which includes coordinated treatment of the home, yard and pet. Vacuum floors, carpets and furniture – especially in areas where an infested pet has spent a lot of time, because that is often where many flea eggs will be found. Wash pet bedding and other fabrics in hot water.

Why do I still see fleas on my pet after applying Frontline Gold?

There are two main reasons:

  • Fleas can jump onto your pet at any time (see where do new fleas come from), and these are not killed instantly.
  • Frontline Gold brand products are designed to kill any new fleas quickly and prevent their ability to reproduce. Frontline Gold kills fleas by overstimulating the flea nervous system, and hyperexcited fleas may move to the top of the haircoat before they die. So seeing fleas on top of the haircoat after applying Frontline Gold can be an indication that the product is working.

How does Frontline Gold for Dogs and Frontline Gold for Cats work?

After being applied, Frontline Gold for Dogs and Frontline Gold for Cats spreads all over the treated animal’s body and is stored in the sebaceous glands under the surface of the skin. From these glands, it is continually wicked through the hair follicles onto the skin and haircoat for a month or more.

Should I apply Frontline Gold for Dogs to ALL the dogs and Frontline Gold for Cats to ALL the cats in my household, even if they are indoor-only?

Absolutely. If you don’t treat every dog and cat, the untreated pets can continue to harbor fleas that will lay eggs, preventing the infestation from being cleared. Even if the dog or cat never goes outdoors, people may bring fleas into the home.

How often should I apply Frontline Gold brand products to my pets?

For continuous protection, apply an appropriate Frontline Gold brand product every 30 days as directed. Consistency is key.

Can I bathe my pet while using Frontline Gold?

Yes. Frontline Gold brand products remain effective for 30 days, even if your pet swims or is bathed. You may bathe your pet 48 hours after application. ONLY use a shampoo formulated for your pet and recommended by your veterinarian.

It works better than some flea treatments

    By on

I am semi happy with Frontline. We had better experience than some other name brands we ordered from Chewy. As far as FrontlineGold goes, we have used it in the past, but for some reason it does not seem to be as effective as in the past. We have did everything the same way as before. I am considering trying to use a actual pill rather than the drops.

Applied this to my 14 year old collie mix....for the first time....it seems to have gotten rid of or reduced the flea problem after about 2 weeks....she is old and lame in other words not in the best of health but the fleas were really a problem for her....not sure if this product made her a little sick but I will apply it again because the fleas were really a problem for her

    Great product, great applicator

I find Frontline to have the best application process. You shake it up, twist the top, and apply. It's the only one where I don't get the product on me. And it 100% works for Ticks and Fleas.

    Just Mediocre

    By on

I have numerous animals. One animal could not have Frontline because it's a rabbit. It will kill a rabbit. My animals already had fleas (except the rabbit) and had been wearing flea collars when they got the fleas. I got the Frontline to kill the fleas. Frontline slowed the fleas down, but they didn't kill them. I wouldn't give this a low score because there are other steps that I should have increased (vacuuming and bathing) to help rid the animals of the fleas. I did/do those things, but with active fleas you have to do that a lot. But I was disappointed the Frontline hardly did anything at all.

Recommended as alternate to prevent seizures

    By on

Our Chesapeake bay retriever/lab mix has seizures when we give her any of the pill tick/flea medicines (including bravecto and trifexis). Our vet recommended this product because it doesn’t include the chemical she says tends to cause seizures in sensitive doggos. So far, so good! We usually will see a seizure within a week of giving her flea prevention meds so hopefully this continues to keep our pup seizure free.

Not sure about this front line

    By on

We live in the woods of central pa and our dog is a real tick magnet. I use this frontline religiously but still have problems with ticks on our large sheep dog. Also use flea and tick shampoo at least once a week. Might switch to a collar next month and give that a try. Unless we get some really cold weather this winter I will be dealing with this the whole season.
